We're excited to share that our Reimagining Addiction Treatment event in Hattiesburg last week was covered by WDAM7! These events are meant to spread the word about alternative pathways to recovery from addiction — such as mutual aid groups or medication-assisted therapies — and we're so happy to offer people an opportunity to learn about them. Thank you, WDAM7! Check out the story here: https://lnkd.in/dBP_JV4f

3 Reasons for the Family Addiction Engagement Training seminar today at 5:30pm MST. https://lnkd.in/dsGc3Xq 1) Traditional approaches to addiction recovery doesn’t have great statistics, includes shame, leave lots of room for improvement, can re-traumatize the whole family, and often divide family relationships. 2) Addiction is progressive: mild, moderate, sever. Often, families see the problem first. Engaging families earlier can only lead to more lives saved and potentially greater positive outcomes. 3) Shame-free language and showing families how they can be a stronger part of the solution promotes families reaching out sooner.

County Commissioners and the Hamilton County Addiction Response Coalition (HC ARC) gathered to share the 2023 State of the Addiction Crisis Report today. Overdose deaths in the county are down 31% since 2017. This trend shows that we're making significant progress. The downward trend is because of the collaborative work being done by members of the Coalition, the compassionate services they provide, and the expertise they bring to the table. While we can celebrate the progress we've made, the work is far from done. The HC ARC will continue to serve the people of Hamilton County, and help us fight the addiction crisis as a united front. You can read the 2023 report here: https://lnkd.in/dAD38x5y
