If you are thinking about obtaining a horse for trail riding may I suggest giving VERY serious consideration to buying a "gaited horse" by which I mean a horse that naturally does one of the smooth four beat ambling gaits. The pluses - MUCH smoother ride in the second gait - faster walking speed as well - MUCH easier to learn to sit an ambling gait than to sit the trot. The minuses - your gaited horse doing the flat foot walk will walk faster than your friend's QH (or other walk-trot-canter horse) so it will be nearly impossible to ride side by side with them. This video shows slow motion of two different horse doing the fox trot. https://lnkd.in/e4FDM8WY Just a very small change in footfall (the front hoof landing a fraction of a second before the diagonal hind hoof) makes the fox trot smooth while the trot itself is jarring/rough. This informational website is mostly accurate about the ambling gaits https://lnkd.in/eSpq9ypM but in some places incorrectly labels certain gaits as "uneven 2 beat gaits" when they are actually "uneven 4 beat gaits." Just think about it - how can you have an "uneven 2 beat gait?" And also how can all the ambling gaits be four beat gaits then suddenly somehow be "uneven 2 beat gaits." I have tried to get the website to correct their infographic but they have not even bothered to respond. But MOST of their info on the ambling gaits is helpful and good. Remember to intentionally, on purpose, learn of God each day by prayerfully reading, studying, and pondering upon God's word each day. Talk to God in prayer as your Heavenly Father who would like for you to be His friend. Find out what He would like you to do for Him as His friend and go and do it for Him as His friend. After National Racehorse Week last year. I thought there was no way it could get any better!? However, I would say National Racehorse Week 2024 has been the best one yet. It was my pleasure to lead this project for the second year in a row. This year the entire racing industry threw themselves whole heartedly behind the project and it was a pleasure to be a part of its success! In that spirit here is a video and a few of the 2024 headlines: • 159 free events were delivered for the public across open days and community activity • 55 bespoke community events connected with over 4,200 participants • 104 open days created 14,095 free open day places • 50% of participants across all activity had a low or no affinity to racing • 95% said they had a positive impression of racing after their experience • 72% said their open day experience makes them more likely to watch racing or go to a race event For a glimpse at those behind the scenes of these fantastic events, and to hear about their first hand experience on the importance of introducing racehorses to those schools and groups that attended a NRW event: listen to the Racing Together webinar https://lnkd.in/ed-D842R If you have made it all the way to the bottom of this post.
