Despite it being a national holiday, our company was very busy last Thursday. For the second time, we took part in the ‘Door Opener’ day of the popular German children's TV show ‘Die Sendung mit der Maus’ and opened our doors (and slides) to children aged 6 to 12, supervised by Anika Beer. Twenty-five curious children (and a few parents) were able to learn exciting things about renewable energies and conduct experiments to generate electricity from wind and sunlight themselves. Outside, we set up circuits of solar cells and fans, and thanks to the sunny weather, the fans were kept very busy. After using dynamos to demonstrate how electricity is generated from rotation, we also set up small wind turbines and distributed them. This briefly created our own small wind farm in our garden, but unfortunately it only generated a small amount of electricity due to the low wind. However, this enabled us to explain why the weather plays such a major role in renewable energies and what we actually do as a company. We all had a lot of fun that day and the children went home happy and a little bit wiser. #Maustag #erneuerbareEnergien #renewables #future #jobs

In my growing interest in clean energy and caring for our beautiful planet, I recently have learned about another promising clean energy technology—wave energy. What's interesting about wave technology is that it isn't subject to weather changes, which effect wind and solar. Although I am a big believer in the ever evolving advancements in wind and solar technology, I have become quite interested in the potential that wave energy can bring. Here is a quick 5 point breakdown: 1. What is it? It is an advanced technology that takes the energy of waves in the ocean, and converts it to electricity. 2. The hurdles... The initial costs are high. In addition, the need for infrastructure to transmit electricity from offshore installations to the grid is also an issue. 3. It's Eco-Friendly: Wave energy is considered environmentally friendly as it produces electricity with minimal greenhouse gas emissions and has a relatively low impact on marine ecosystems. 4. Also... Wave technology being is environmentally friendly because it produces electricity with minimal greenhouse gas emissions. In addition, the minimal greenhouse gas emissions in turn would have a relatively low impact on marine ecosystems., which is a very good thing. 5. Future Prospects: With the evolving advancements in today's technology, wave clean energy has the potential to be paired with wind and solar energy. I find this very exciting. #WaveEnergy #CleanEnergy #CleanTechnology

Its such a complete no-brainer, using road side parcels as main locations for new solar fields. The advantages are numerous: only one or few owners to deal with, often out-of-sight, not disturbing the landscape and no nimby to reckon with, amongst them. At the #EsriUC2024 Allie Kelly of The Ray explained in an eye-opening session on the #energytransition how they developed - together with Esri - a new National Mapping Tool using #ArcGIS thas identified 52,000 acres of empty roadside land in the United States that is suitable for solar energy development and could generate 36 tera-watt (TWh) hours a year! Imagine how big of a leap in the #energytransition that would be. In Europe, namely in The Netherlands and Belgium are some initiatives developing as well, but looking at how obvious this idea is, its a shame its not picked up way more widely and at a faster pace! #solarenergy #photoneconomy #energytransition #greenrevolution

While wind farms are a great source of renewable energy, it has brought up new issue that many citizens have to face: noise pollution. Wind farms generate noise pollution from turbine mechanics and blade aerodynamics, which can disrupt nearby residents' quality of life. 💨 Therefore, reducing noise levels is essential to balance renewable energy benefits with community well-being.🔇 👉 Listen to detailed insights from Andries Gryffroy on how to reduce noise pollution from wind energy. Available here: https://lnkd.in/e2J6xX8S The discussion covers practical solutions and strategies to mitigate the impact of noise on communities, addressing concerns related to wind turbine installations. #WindEnergy #NoisePollution

One of the best visualizations on this topic I have seen so far with some nice stats to put things into perspective. Not sure, if that would have been the average "best guess" by everyone: "19,000km2 is roughly a third of the size of Tasmania. And you could fit all of the world’s current solar infrastructure within this space." https://lnkd.in/dqCE64x5

#Harnessing_the_Power_of_Nature Because of their abundant #sunshine and consistent wind patterns, #tropical_islands are ideal for generating #renewable_energy and using solar-wind hybrid systems. 😎 🎡 But what is this new combination? #Hybrid_systems combine #photovoltaic_solar_panels and #wind_turbines to take advantage of natural resources, ensuring a continuous and #reliable_energy_supply. Solar panels convert #sunlight into electricity, and are especially useful during #daylight hours when demand is typically highest. 📡 🏗 While wind turbines harness the #kinetic_energy of trade winds, providing a steady flow of energy even when the sun sets or clouds block its rays. This approach could revolutionize #tropical energy production. 📊 ⚡ These systems can provide a continuous, reliable #power_supply. This not only meets the energy demands of these islands but also contributes to #sustainable development. ♻

Welcome to Day 7 of our Advent series, where we debunk myths about renewable energy! Myth: Wind turbines are always idle. Reality: If wind turbines were always idle, they couldn't contribute around a quarter of Germany's electricity generation. There are various reasons why turbines might be temporarily shut down. For instance, during periods of strong wind, an excess of electricity might be fed into the grid, or an oversupply of fossil fuel-based electricity might block the grids. This issue can be mitigated by using electricity in other sectors, flexible load shifting, and the consistent shutdown of conventional power plants. Maintenance and repairs are also reasons for temporary shutdowns. Additionally, turbines may be halted to protect birds and bats during breeding and migration seasons. To protect residents, turbines are also shut down if they cast shadows on nearby homes for more than 30 minutes a day during low sun periods. Stay connected for more myths busted and insights shared every day this Advent season! #RenewableEnergy #WindEnergy #4cast #EnergyEfficiency #GreenEnergy #Sustainability

Scary Belectrifact 💡🎃🌕 Did you know? The illuminance of the sun is around 100,000 lux, whereas that of a full moon is only 0.2 lux. This means that the light flux which the sun sends to earth is several hundred thousand times stronger than that of the moon. Therefore, even with very efficient technology, it is unfortunately not possible to generate energy from PV systems during an eerie full moon. Nevertheless, we wish all spooky ghosts, little witches, and werewolves a spooky Halloween night! Boooooo! 👻 #belectrifact #belectric #solarenergie #solarenergy #greenenergy #energiewende #energytransition #renewables #halloween
