Last night, 60 Minutes featured Centrus’ American Centrifuge Plant in Piketon, Ohio — and how it holds the key to ending U.S. dependence on imported enriched uranium from Russia. As our CEO, Amir Vexler explains, filling the plant with centrifuges will take several years, but it would be enough to fully replace America’s imports from Russia. It’s time to start relying on American technology and American workers to meet our nuclear fuel needs:
On the cusp of a US nuclear resurgence? Possibly. Regardless, Amir Vexler & Centrus are a pillar of US nuclear fuel cycle independence. Best to the Centrus Team
Pinkerton is not the only place enriching uranium. Urenco in Eunice, NM is doing this. They are also expanding to produce the fuel for the new SMR designs.
Why dont we reprocess the spent fuel from reactors? The nuclear material is already enriched and would be recylced rather than sitting as nuclear waste.
Good job Amir. I'm sure Centrus will do a great job. Hopefully this is a go.

1moHuh. Congress just noticed something we knew 15 years ago when I was in Piketon. So it takes about a generation for leaders to notice things they should be seeing now.
