“24/7 transition tariffs are different from the green tariffs that match annual consumption with annual renewable energy production. 24/7 transition tariffs seek to match a customer’s hourly consumption with deliverable carbon-free electricity provision in each hour of the year. We refer to this concept as a “transition” tariff because the transition to 24/7 carbon-free electricity will happen over time, with successive tariffs progressing farther toward the goal.” “The fundamentals are: -Integrate transition tariff investments with ongoing utility planning. -Ensure accurate hourly emissions tracking and verification. -Design transition tariffs to accelerate complementary investments. -Employ rate design to ensure fairness and to align carbon-free electricity grid needs with pricing and compensation. -Integrate operating systems to implement hourly matching.” https://lnkd.in/ePYZxZN5

CRU has announced an increase in Distribution Use of System (DUoS) and Transmission Use of System (DTUoS) tariffs, effective from 1 October 2024. These changes could significantly impact your business’s energy costs, especially if you have high energy consumption. 🔍 What Does This Mean? DUoS and DTUoS charges are additional costs that businesses incur for accessing and using the electricity grid infrastructure. These charges help cover the costs of maintaining and upgrading the grid, ensuring a reliable electricity supply. ☑️ DUoS: Applies to the use of local distribution networks. ☑️ DTUoS: Covers the use of the high-voltage transmission network that transports electricity over long distances. Key Changes: ☑️ Average Unit Price (AUP) for Transmission: Expected to rise by 30.4% for the 2024/2025 period, reaching 3.91 c/kWh. ☑️ Overall Increase: The combined impact of DUoS and DTUoS tariffs is an approximate 15.6% increase compared to 2023/24. The changes in tariffs will vary based on your business’s energy consumption, the time of day you use energy, and whether you are connected to the distribution or transmission network. For a more detailed breakdown and to better understand how these adjustments might affect your business, please visit the link to our latest blog post. 🌱 How Can Digren Energy Help?
