At the 2025 Sun Valley Forum, Chase Cain, national climate report, NBCUniversal and Henk Rogers, Founder, Blue Planet Alliance, sat down to discuss the obstacles island nations face in deploying clean, #renewableenergy. Henk discussed the organization's successful strategy to remove those barriers. The answer is blowing in the wind: GALE Groundwork: research which countries are the most likely to succeed. Agreements: make agreements with heads of state with the determination to make it happen. Legislation: pass laws that mandate 100% renewable energy deployment by 2045 or sooner–making it harder for a new administration to backtrack. PPPs Lead the Charge in Sustainable Energy as Climate Challenges Intensify

The RBC Climate Action Institute has released its inaugural Climate Action Report, providing an in-depth look at Canada’s net zero journey. Our CEO, Dan Balaban was selected as this year’s Climate Action Hero for the report’s electricity feature, which takes a close look at renewable energy across the country. As the developer of Canada’s largest wind and solar projects, Dan speaks to the incredible opportunity that exists in Alberta and across the country. “Renewable energy is possibly the greatest economic opportunity of our generation,” he says. The report’s findings show that wind is Canada’s fastest growing low-carbon electricity source, but more capacity is needed to reach net zero goals. However, Greengate has proven that renewable energy projects of scale can work in Canada – and the report agrees, noting the significant opportunity that exists for Canada to lead the way.
