Long-duration energy storage battery technology provider Energy Dome has signed a supply contract with Alliant Energy for the Columbia Energy Storage Project in Columbia County, Wisconsin in the US. The project will feature Energy Dome’s standard-frame 20MW/200MWh CO2 Battery, powering around 18,000 homes in Wisconsin for 10 hours on a single charge. It is Energy Dome’s first US contract. Claudio Spadacini (pictured, left), CEO of Energy Dome, said: “This is excellent news for long-duration energy storage in North America. Our forward-thinking collaboration with Alliant Energy is not just about innovation, it’s about creating opportunities for imminent scaled deployment in the US energy sector. Member Energy Dome has signed its first U.S. contract for the commercial-scale deployment of long duration energy storage solution as part of the Columbia Energy Storage Project in Wisconsin. The Alliant Energy project will use Energy Dome’s 20MW/200MWh CO2 battery technology to provide reliable #renewable energy to approximately 18,000 homes for up to 10 hours on a single charge. Project construction is set to begin in 2025, and operations are expected to commence in 2026. The Columbia Energy Storage Project is supported by funding from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE)’s Office of Clean Energy Demonstrations. “This is a significant milestone for long duration energy storage in North America.
