Bringing a famous liquor from your home country In Madrid we organize the only Wind Expo in the world - with NO sales pitches As our event is exclusive for wind asset owners, our participants do not have anything that they can sell to each other. Therefore, we do it differently. We are giving an exhibition stand (a standing table) to all participating companies. On that standing table they will have two things: 1. A poster telling us their top three major wind farm operations activities planned within the next 12 months and the top three wind farm operations activities that turned out to be much better than expected during the last twelve-month 2. Some famous liqueur from their home country It’s definitely a successful formula for gaining knowledge and developing a network. So far 110 wind asset owner peers from 25 different countries have confirmed their participation. The most recent Owners Roundtable was held in pre-Corona times, before Russia had invaded Ukraine. Our dear Ukrainian members brought some local Vodka and the evening ended at their stand. Unfortunately, D.TEK is not participating this year. Learn more at this page: https://lnkd.in/d-bpTdfg

The National Unity Platform (NUP) has faced a significant setback as their request to use Kololo Ceremonial Grounds for their four-year anniversary celebration was denied by the Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs. Citing ongoing infrastructural developments, the Ministry, through Permanent Secretary Sam Kallu, stated that the grounds were unavailable for the event scheduled for July 22nd. NUP General Secretary David Lewis Rubongonya had chosen Kololo due to its frequent use by the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) and for other public events, including music concerts. In their response, the Ministry acknowledged the receipt of NUP's request but regretted that the grounds could not be used due to the supposed construction activities. Joel Ssenyonyi, the NUP Spokesperson, expressed disappointment, accusing the regime of bias and cowardice. He stated that the NUP had anticipated the refusal but wanted to assert their rights as Ugandans to use public spaces. Ssenyonyi disputed the infrastructural development claim, highlighting that Kololo continues to host various events, including a recent celebration of the NRM's 40 years in power. The National Unity Platform (NIP) President Robert Kyagulanyi, also known as Bobi Wine, condemned the Ministry's decision on social media, pointing out that the grounds remain accessible only to those aligned with President Museveni's regime. He emphasized that despite Kololo's public status and its recent renovations to accommodate large gatherings, it effectively serves the interests of the ruling party. This controversy underscores broader issues of fairness and transparency in the allocation of public venues for political events in Uganda. The NUP's experience highlights the challenges opposition parties face in engaging with the public, calling into question the equitable treatment of political entities and the democratic space in the country. As the NUP seeks alternative venues for their celebrations, the incident continues to spotlight concerns over state control and the need for fair access to national resources to maintain public trust and uphold democratic principles.

What do event companies want from the new government ... whenever the UK election happens? These are some of the things that people tell me are important for the events industry: 👨💻 SIC (Standard Industrial Classification) codes that reflect the whole industry. ❗ Certainty. 💷 Realisation that the event industry generatates income for the country (£84 billion p/a prior to the pandemic) 📖 A government strategy for the events industry. 👩 Having a representative within the Cabinet. ♻ Recognition of the work being done to make the industry more environmentally friendly. 🌍 Make working in the EU easier with less paperwork. 🚊 Better infrastructure for attendees to access events in the most environmentally friendly way.

Conference speech: “There is no point in pretending to be an ostrich…” It’s Party Conference season. It is a very exciting time when party members, MPs and Councillors get together in somewhere “exotic” like Manchester (Greens), Liverpool (Labour), Birmingham (Tories) or Brighton (LibDems). This is fertile ground for exchanging ideas and talking to like minded Party members. Three of the conferences this year are quite festive; Labour for winning a majority one more than Tony Blair, the LibDems for their best election result in a century and the Greens the biggest they have ever been despite our political system that is stacked against smaller parties. A hot topic at all these conferences is of course housing. I can resist everything except temptation, so naturally I have to make my conference speech to all of them (and you… nothing like a captive audience, eh?). Dear conference delegates, comrades, friends, Romans, countrymen etc. etc, I have a simple message for you at this here conference tide. One: The new Government and more importantly the Treasury is after the lolly from housebuilding. They are not going to compromise and no matter how much posturing and crying foul or arguments about “precious green belt” is going to get you slipped. Two: There is now a very powerful caucus in the Labour Parliamentary Party (well over 100 MPs) who are pro housebuilding. One of them said: “I can’t afford a home in my constituency on my £92k MP salary and that needs sorting out. Now. “ Three: Housing targets are back, so is 5YHLS and you WILL be making a Local Plan or else Ms Rayner will put you in detention and make you do lines of your Local Plan. Four: Housing is coming… like paying taxes and dying… it is now going to be one of those inevitabilities in life, so you had better start getting used to it mate. Pretending to be an ostrich and burying your head in the sand is only going to make the housing need bigger. Five: Regional planning is coming back so if you have beef with your neighbour, Cllr Smith in Shire East District Council you had better lay down your sword, kiss and make up because you are going to have to work together and the quicker you do that, the better you are going to serve your electorate. Six: Planning can be done WITH you and your community, or it can be done TO you and your community. Your job as a Councillor is to engage with the developers and with Planning Officers and your community in a MEANINGFUL WAY and shape the developments. Developers will listen and will work with you. Why? Because if they get it wrong, the homes won’t sell and they will get fired or go bankrupt. They need your local knowledge as much as you need them to provide the infrastructure that will make it work. Seven: It works two ways - If a developer wants to build homes in your ward and they didn’t bother to talk to you, call me. I will track them down for you and roast their toes at the fire. Until Next week, Henry 07736121014

At the time of writing this letter, registration for our Seoul Annual Conference is wide open. Record shows that our Conference Committee has processed 394 paper submissions, 19 of which were pre-organized panels. All applicants should have been informed of the review result by now, and I hope that all presenters will start to plan for their trip and get registered early. I know it is near, or even has passed, the deadline of early bird registration, but if any members have any trouble handling the system and missed the early bird registration, please contact us at waporoffice@gmail.com as soon as possible. For those not presenting at the conference, I also hope you will come. Other than speeches and presentations, we also have workshops, meetings, gatherings, exhibitions, as well as special and social events which will make your stay in Seoul memorable. As of April 11, when we held our last Council Meeting, we had 476 individual members, including chapter-only members, and the count will go up to 490 if we include organizational members and Friends of WAPOR. Among our members, 75 are National Representatives (NatRep), another 30 will become NatReps once they pay their membership fees. At that same Council Meeting, three important decisions were made: The “WAPOR Conflict of Interest Policy” was adopted “to prevent the personal interest of Council members (Officers and Committee Chairs) and staff members, from interfering with the performance of their duties for WAPOR or result in personal financial, professional, or political gain on the part of such persons at the expense of WAPOR”. The policy will be uploaded onto our website in due course. The “Procedures and Guidelines for WAPOR National Representatives” was revised to clarify and further specify the tasks and duties of NatReps, their terms of service, and their nomination, appointment, and renewal procedures. Please check out our website, click “About WAPOR” then “National Representatives” to read the details. Upon recommendation of our Finance Committee, the Council approved engaging Atlas as WAPOR’s investment advisor after comparing two bids. Atlas was chosen because of its extensive experience working with non-profits and its successful track record in managing investments. Other than making these important decisions, the Council Meeting also noted that the Professional Standards Committee is collating its maiden annual report of National Representatives, which will be an important addition to our not-so-frequent Freedom to Publish Reports. We are expecting this new report to be presented in our Annual Conference in Seoul. Likewise, we are expecting the presentation of a study report to be compiled by our “Special Committee on the Use of Polls in Candidate Selection” in Seoul. ..... Reference: https://lnkd.in/g554cS6C
