Doesn’t take a rocket scientist to work out that flaring gas is both wasteful and environmentally harmful (releases volition compounds and unburnt methane which is 84x more warming than CO2) Bitcoin mining operations are currently the only scaleable way to end flaring profitably without govt incentives. It’s incredible how with Bitcoin, the economic incentives continually align towards doing the right thing for the planet

More than 7800 electric generating units powered by #naturalgas have been built in the United States. More than half of those have been built since 2000. The share of #electricity generated In the United States by natural gas increased from 16% in 2000 to 38% in 2021. When discussing our gensets and solutions, we often emphasize our role in ensuring the (emergency) power supply of critical infrastructure like data centers. But in the UK, we're talking on an even larger scale: Over 500 of our gas gensets are part of the capacity markets there. They can be flexibly ramped up when there is a need for more power. This not only ensures the country's power security but also reduces emissions compared to coal-fired power plants and is quickly deployable. Why the energy transition cannot compromise on #SF6 #Sulphur_hexafluoride (SF6) and other #greenhouse_gas (GHG) emissions reduction, beyond CO2 emissions, is the next frontier for urgent action in the energy sector due to their extreme potency. With widespread commitments made to reducing #CO2 emissions, attention is turning to other greenhouse gases, specifically methane and nitrous oxide as the next largest contributors. In parallel, various variants of fluorocarbons and particularly in the energy sector, SF6 with its use in switchgear and other equipment, have been put in the spotlight as significant contributors to GHG emissions.
