𝗔𝗶𝗿𝗳𝗹𝗼𝘄 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗧𝗲𝘀𝘁: two types of PTFE membranes - Porex 𝗩𝗶𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗸® 𝘀𝗣𝗧𝗙𝗘 (sintered) and 𝗲𝗣𝗧𝗙𝗘 (expanded) - were evaluated for their ability to regain original airflow post a rigorous 3000-cycle test with muddy water. sPTFE remarkably restored full airflow in half the time it took ePTFE, showcasing sPTFE’s potential for more efficient performance in challenging environments. This sort of awareness is exactly why I am campaigning for the plumbing and heating standard to have a core only 'wet' option, as key areas such as scalding are often overlooked in favour of the fuels option being a crucial element in the training. It appears that to be classed as a plumbing and heating technician/engineer, you have to do some kind of fuel option, but the fact that the main emphasis should be on the wet elements of the training, precisely due to issues around scalding and burns as well as legionella issues, seems to go unnoticed.
