Al-Balad area, situated in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, holds historical significance and draws visitors due to its architectural heritage. Characterized by ancient structures and intricate pathways, the area's subterranean infrastructure includes water and sewage systems. However, a pressing issue has emerged - steadily rising groundwater levels, which pose a tangible threat to the stability of historic buildings, pathways, and the city's historical elements. The primary goal of AIECon in this project, is to design a sustainable groundwater control system tailored to the environmental conditions, ensuring the preservation of buildings, roads, and historical landmarks. This system aims to provide a permanent solution to regulate groundwater levels, safeguarding the Al-Balad area and its historical treasures.

The Nabateans carved this in the 1st Century… without scaffolding or any machinery 🤯 Just imagine that! I recently traveled to Saudi Arabia, where I toured the archaeological sites at Hegra. (Similar to the famous Petra in Jordan, but without the tourists – go while it’s still so quiet!) It blew my mind thinking about how this civilization carved out these incredible tombs using just rocks and rudimentary tools. And they’re still in remarkable condition 2000 years later. Even more mind blowing given that a few hundred miles away, in cities like Riyadh, there are areas where the skyline is so dominated by cranes, they appear on the horizon like a forest of trees. Demand for residential real estate in the Kingdom is soaring, with the goal to add 660,000 homes by 2030, when the population is expected to reach 50M people from 36M. Just driving in from the airport, one can see mile after mile of construction fencing surrounding new residential developments. I’ve never seen anything like it. The country is going to be unrecognizable in 20 years. This juxtaposition of ancient and modern construction is a testament to the importance of vision, innovation and human ambition. Whether you're developing a new property or preserving an old one, the key lies in creating something that stands the test of time – inspiring for generations to come! #saudi #newdevelopment #realestate

Did You Know? Qatar Is the Only Country to Have Blue Colored Roads! Here is a fascinating tidbit about urban infrastructure that caught my attention: Qatar stands out as the sole country globally to boast blue-colored roads. This innovation significantly lowers asphalt temperatures by 15 to 20 degrees Celsius. In a world where roadways typically sport the traditional black or gray hues, Qatar's innovative approach to urban planning adds a vibrant touch to its landscape. The distinctive blue hue not only adds aesthetic appeal but also serves practical purposes, contributing to road safety and navigation in the bustling cityscape. This unique initiative underscores Qatar's commitment to forward-thinking urban development and innovation. By incorporating unconventional elements into its infrastructure, Qatar sets an inspiring example for other nations to explore creative solutions in enhancing urban environments. As we navigate the complexities of urbanization and transportation infrastructure globally, Qatar's blue-colored roads serve as a shining symbol of innovation and progress. It's a reminder that sometimes, thinking outside the box can lead to remarkable outcomes. #ClimateAction #Qatar #UrbanDevelopment #Innovation #Infrastructure #RoadSafety #UrbanPlanning #BlueRoads 🚗💙 Thank you Victor Mecwan IAS (R) Sir for sharing this interesting fact.

Saudi Arabia's plan to construct a two-kilometer-high skyscraper north of Riyadh is an ambitious project that aims to surpass all existing skyscrapers, making it the tallest building in the world. This project is part of the country's broader efforts to diversify its economy beyond oil by investing in futuristic and large-scale infrastructure projects. The building would dwarf the current tallest building, the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, which stands at 828 meters. If realized, this skyscraper would set new benchmarks in engineering, architecture, and urban development. It aligns with Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030, a strategic framework aimed at reducing the kingdom's dependence on oil, diversifying its economy, and developing public service sectors such as health, education, infrastructure, recreation, and tourism. #SaudiVision2030 #TallestBuilding #EngineeringMarvel #SaudiArabia #ConstructionInnovation #FutureOfArchitecture #MegaProjects #UrbanDevelopment #SustainableInfrastructure
