Initially, most additive manufacturing (AM) labs were established to explore additive technology, evolving into spaces dedicated to hardware creation. Initially, this hardware fulfills prototyping requirements, akin to an expedited internal model shop. However, as engineers gain expertise in AM and the technology advances into early adoption phases within the company, innovative prototype and tooling solutions emerge. As the lab matures, opportunities arise to manufacture production-level components, presenting a plethora of challenges to navigate and control. What sets some AM labs apart is the continuous emphasis on prototyping activities, even as production ramps up. Consequently, these work cells engage in both prototype and production work, maximizing machine utilization while complicating workflow management. This underscores the necessity for a robust Quality Process Control (QPC) system that can handle varying requirements across end-use applications, and industries. Materialise's QPC, a quality control system solution, serves not only our customer’s workflows but as a cornerstone in our own daily operations, ensuring the delivery of hardware that meets the exacting standards of the most stringent industries. In furthering its commitment to enhancing control over the 3D printing process, Materialise has forged strategic partnerships with Phase3D and Sigma Additive Solutions. These collaborations augment Materialise's Process Control software by integrating complementary data sources, including height mapping from Phase3D and thermal data from Sigma Additive Solutions. Such integrations provide deep insights into the intricacies of the 3D printing process, empowering users with comprehensive information for continuous improvement. Through these alliances, Materialise expands its technological reach, offering users a technology-agnostic solution that delivers unparalleled insights and optimization capabilities, ultimately driving advancements in additive manufacturing. #materialise #additivemanufacturing #QPC #innovation #3dprinting #phase3D #SigmaAdditiveSolutions https://lnkd.in/g5QxrnQV

" In 5 to 10 years, we will be witness to two parallel processes: The first one is a slow movement of general adoption of AM in production, that will go side-by-side with the improvement of AM solution productivity. The second one is a fast and deep movement of AM adoption in production, industry by industry, which will have a start when any existing obstacles to production in that specific industry are overcome and will then be pushed to the whole industry as a natural reaction to the competitive context. In 10 years, AM production is likely to be the chosen manufacturing method for many industries or companies and may even be seen as a requirement from an operational risk perspective. Overcome 3D Printing Challenges with #Eplus3D Additive Manufacturing Solutions! Last week, we invited you to share the most significant challenge your company faces in implementing #3DPrinting. It is clear that almost half of the contributors that responded to the poll identified cost per part (45%) and part quality (25%) as the primary challenges they face. The most interesting to see is how the product and service providers can support the market in overcoming these challenges, which require not only advanced technology, quality materials and engineering expertise, but also user training and support to enable users to operate the machines as efficiently as possible. The 3D Printing Industry said a cross-functional approach as a key strategy for supporting the growth of #AdditiveManufacturing users. We, Eplus3D, focus on providing a seamless and complete pre and after-sales experience to facilitate the adoption of this technology. In the pre-sales support, our engineering team considers the key cost per part factors to be the most precise: - Operating costs: necessary for an effective machine performance, such as, maintenance and labour resources. - Throughput: reflects on the most valuable keys to consider on the production process, such as number of lasers, build speed, gas consumption among other machine parameters. - Part post-processing: such as surface treatment, support removal, part forming and material melting. - Capital investment: the user company has to meet a decision on the total capital available for the investment. - Energy costs: for running a Metal 3D printing machine. Based on these key calculation factors, the interested user can have the most accurate cost breakdown when considering the adoption of #Metal 3D printing processes, developed by our engineers tailored to customer needs and cost-effective production.
