💡 In forging, lubrication is essential for carrying out the various operations involved in the process. 🔥 Specifically, lubricants help to: ▶️ Reduce friction ▶️ Enable uniform metal flow to ensure proper filling of the die cavity ▶️ Prevent parts from sticking to the die ▶️ Maintain the correct die temperature by retaining heat within the workpiece... ♻️ Sawdust and specially formulated oil mixtures are still commonly used as lubricants. However, significant efforts are being made to adopt biodegradable and eco-friendly modern lubricants to enhance the working environment for our operators. 🎥 In today’s #saturdayvideo, we showcase sawdust lubrication during the hammer forging of a massive part at our Setforge Bouzonville facility. The sawdust creates a small "explosion" that helps release the part from the die.
