Finally it's the holiday time for us too! To our Italians, US, Spain friends, partners and collaborators a deep thanks for the support in this great, exciting and fulfilling journey. After months of hard work and excellent results, in the following days we have time to relax, recover energy, spend time with family and think about what we have learned (this is the incredible value of "experiences"). Here are some pieces of advice I've learned this past year: - New problems can not be solved with old tools. - You learn 100x more trying than reading. - Experiment often. Get started. - Support people don't tear them down. - Courage first. Always. - Teach yourself or you're a liability. - Learn to sell or you're going to lose. - Don’t let’s success get to your head, or failure get to your heart. - Ideas are easy. Execution is hard. - Discipline makes the difference. - The harder the climb, the stronger and more trained you will be. - Correlation is not causation. - Respect people's time. - Be curious and look at the opportunity, not at the problem. - A good network speeds you up. - A bad network slows you down. - The best ways to avoid a discussion is to avoid it. - If people row against you, cut them out. - You can learn from everyone in any moment. - Talk often to your customers. - Share ideas & attract best talents - Write or read daily for at least 40 minutes. - Systems beat motivation. - Use data to create better products. - Optimists are wealthy. - Try a lot of different ways. - You're 100% responsible for your future. But, the more important one, it's this: Dream big dreams. I hope this list can help you avoid some of the mistakes I made and push you to achieve your goal. Have a great Holydays.

In 2024, the Belgian legislative landscape concerning the right to annual leave underwent significant change. New rules now allow employees to carry over certain vacation days from one year to the next and to retain their vacation days due to work incapacity during their vacation. ❗❗Acerta’s Insights on Sick Days and Vacation Leave ❗❗ Recently, I discussed what happens when you fall ill during your holidays and how statutory leave days can be recuperated. Yesterday, Acerta published an insightful article shedding light on this topic, including some revealing statistics and clarifications. According to Acerta, since the introduction of this regulation (January 1, 2024), only 0.0265% of Belgian workers—that’s 1 ❗in 3,772—have converted vacation days into sick leave this year. A short recap of key facts: ▪️ Recuperation: Vacation days lost due to illness can be reclaimed within the same work year. ▪️ 24 Months❗: If you're unable to use these days by the year's end, they can be carried forward for up to 24 months. ▪️ Guaranteed Salary: Workers retain their right to guaranteed pay during illness. ▪️ Payment on 31/12: Any unused vacation days from the current year are paid out at the end of December. However❗, carried-over days are not paid separately when taken later, as they have already been compensated.
