Odisha is known as the land of Lord Jagannath (literally meaning the Lord of the Universe). The temple built in the 12th Century AD has been the epicenter of Jagannath cult and sees pilgrims flocking the temple town of Puri from all corners of the world throughout the year. The mysticism associated with the cult of Lord Jagannath overshadows the architectural brilliance of this magnificent temple. Built on a raised platform, the gigantic temple is an architectural marvel in its own right. The temple saw new additions to its structure till about the 16th Century AD. Unlike other temples of the region, the carvings on the temples are predominantly of gods and goddesses. The entire temple complex is enclosed within two concentric walls, the Kuruma Bheda (Inner wall) and the Meghnad Pachira (Wall). The main entrance to the temple is through Singhadwara located on the Eastern front of the temple with three other entrances along the four cardinal directions. However these are not architecturally aligned indicating that the other entrances might have been created for security purposes since the temple was at the eye of the storm during the tumultuous period between 16th and 18th century. #lawchambersofbhargabbordoloi #lawyer #lawyerlife #lawyerlifestyle #criminallawyer #travel #traveler #tour #tourist #touristlife #vacation #jagannath #jagannathtemple #jagannathpuri #puri #odisha #india #northeastindia #assam #guwahati #highlight #highlights

Temples not only act as a Cultural Heritage but also carry values, beliefs, art forms traditions that people have followed for generations. Preserving tangible cultural assets will not only add value for future generations, but also boost employment, generate revenue for the local communities, increase awareness and connect past legacies, beliefs & ideologies with current generations. Great point by Sudha Murty Madam.
Sudha Murthy’s first speech in the Rajya Sabha was dedicated to boosting domestic tourism. She highlighted 57 domestic tourist sites that should be considered World Heritage Sites, including the Bahubali statue at Shravanabelagola in Karnataka, Lingaraja Temple, Unakoti rock carvings in Tripura, Shivaji forts in Maharashtra, Chausath Yogini Temple in Mitawali, Lothal in Gujarat, and Gol Gumbaz. "In India, we have 42 World Heritage Sites, but 57 are pending ... we should focus on those 57 sites," Murthy said. She praised the marvelous temples in Srirangam and noted that the 2,500-year-old monuments in Sarnath are still not recognized as World Heritage Sites. Murthy also mentioned that the design of the old Parliament Building was inspired by the ancient Chausath Yogini Temple in Mitawali, Madhya Pradesh.
