Why STRICTLY hiring local can set you back. When building a new product, it's natural to want to source new hires from your local talent pool. But tying searches solely to a specific location can affect your potential for growth and creativity down the road. Sure, local hires can make the onboarding process a tad bit easier, but focusing on only local talent leaves you out on some of the best skills that remote workers globally have. Remote workers globally form an expansive community of tech experts who have different outlooks and fresh ideas, taking your product to new levels. By only hiring local, you miss the opportunity to access a diverse range of specialized skills without spending time or money moving. Instead of seeing the candidate’s geographical location as being important, focus on what they bring to the table in terms of merit. Where they live and work is less important than what they can do.
