“Small- to medium-sized enterprises are taking out cyber insurance coverage more often because of concerns about ransomware and professional advice from insurance brokers…” I always wonder how small- to medium-sized #construction companies in the US and Brazil deal with #cyberrisks. My first thought is if these companies are, at least, acknowledging that they are also exposed to these risks.

Here's your reminder for today that the “human factor” does not preclude cyber coverage. The cases Joshua Gold present in this piece prove that cyber insurance policyholders should take arguments around the human factor with a grain of salt. Employee actions, decisions or omissions don't always sever the chain of causation needed to demonstrate insurance coverage. Keep in mind that there may be some regulatory oversight actions needed to make crypto payments. Close coordination with insurance carriers and their panel representatives is key in reducing friction between the carrier and insured #RiskManagement #Cybersecurity

There is a growing concern about Cyber Insurance which was held as one of the topics at the CyberLaw Forum. You may take a look at the whole panel sessions, but I strongly recommend the Cyber Insurance one which focuses on many critical subjects. I favor the idea of reviewing current strategies on risk mitigation before risk transfer, in-house versus third-party breaches, and quantifying risk assessments to know and determine the risk tolerance. Consequently, both insurers and insurance holders would be able to take less risk and more comprehensive coverage.

Marsh McLennan and Zurich Insurance Group have highlighted the urgent need for government intervention to address the rising threat of catastrophic cyber events. According to a recent whitepaper, the cyber insurance market is projected to surpass $28 billion in gross premiums by 2027, doubling the amount written in 2023. Despite this growth, there remains a significant $900 billion protection gap between insured losses and economic losses resulting from cyberattacks. This alarming gap particularly impacts small to medium-sized businesses, many of which are either underinsured or lack coverage altogether. #CyberSecurity #Insurance #RiskManagement #DomainSecurity Source: Cybersecurity Dive Insights by: Gregory Eskins https://lnkd.in/e9RQ_Qya
