Could not be more accurate Marshall. Effective Change Management focuses on clear, concise repetitive communications to ensure the message is heard and is understood..If you hear it often enough, there is more of a chance you will not miss it but also realise it's something you need to pay attention to because you heard it more than once through several different channels.

💡Effective communication is about what they heard, not what we think we said. 💡 People Manager Top Tip: If you find that communication isn't always clear on your team, try this: ask your team members to send you a summary of your 1:1 discussions. This should include coaching points, feedback, and action items. If there's a gap between what you thought you communicated and what they understood, you can address it right away and ensure everyone is on the same page! #WordsMatter #EffectiveCommunication #leadershipcoaching

It's so true - what they hear matters more than what you say. Have you ever stopped to wonder if your message is getting through as you intended? The essence of effective communication lies in what your audience comprehends, not just in what you believe you've conveyed. This concept shifts the focus from speaking to listening—truly understanding if the listener has grasped the intent and content of your message. Why does this matter in the workplace? Because every email, presentation, and meeting is an opportunity to connect, inform, and inspire. But this can only happen if we pay as much attention to how our message is received as to how it is sent. So, next time you’re communicating, ask for feedback. Ensure your message is not just heard, but understood. This simple shift can lead to better outcomes, stronger relationships, and more effective teamwork. #Leadership #Teamwork #ProfessionalDevelopment #Feedback

Effective communication is indeed a two-way street. It’s easy to focus on what we want to say, but true impact comes from understanding the listener's perspective. I’ve found that taking a moment to reflect on how my message might be received can transform a simple conversation into a meaningful connection. It’s about bridging the gap between intent and impact. #effectivecommunication #leadership #effectiveleadership

Every #Communication is a two-way interaction (at least). Think of real communication as a complex call and response in which all parties are giving information, confirming receipt, articulating understanding, and sharing more. Bet you didn’t think there was so much to it. #EffectiveCommunication #Leadership #HRLeaders #ActiveListening

A very important lesson in communication! We are often so consumed in our thoughts and feelings that we just assume that whatever we say is landing in the exact same way. We forget that the other person is different and hence how they perceive it can be very different. One of the presuppositions of NLP is that every person has their own map of the world and they operate basis that. And when we understand this and act accordingly, many of our challenges and conflicts can be resolved easily. It can also help you become more effective in "Influencing Skills". Thank you for this great reminder Marshall Goldsmith! #CoachAkankshaBansal #leadershipcoach #HR #effectivecommunication

So true. It applies to everyone. However leaders should be even more careful of what is the purpose of their #communication, and who are the recipients to adapt their communication accordingly, and of course checking what the listeners understood. As a leadership development consultant and executive coach, I see that, very often, issues leaders have with their teams is due to poor communication. Communication is the most important tool of #leadership. Shouldn't leaders be careful about what they say and what their team and others understood?
