⚠️ Environmental disaster we face every day !! The burning of plastic waste 💣 is a catastrophic practice fueled by a lack of awareness and effective solutions. It has severe consequences for human health and the environment, contributing to air pollution, global warming, and climate change. The dangers include: Release of Toxic Substances ☠️: Burning plastic releases harmful chemicals like dioxins, furans, and PCBs, which are linked to serious health issues such as cancer, respiratory disorders, reproductive problems, and nervous system damage. Fine Particulate Matter: The process also produces fine particles (PM2.5 and PM10) that penetrate deep into the lungs, causing chronic inflammation and leading to severe cardiovascular and respiratory diseases. Air Pollution: Large quantities of carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, and other pollutants are emitted, further degrading air quality. Soil and Water Contamination: The ash left behind often contains toxic substances that can leach into the soil and water, posing a significant threat to plants, animals, and ecosystems. Greenhouse Gas Emissions: Burning plastic contributes significantly to the release of greenhouse gases like CO2 and methane, exacerbating global temperature rise. Climate Change Acceleration: These emissions drive more extreme weather events, rising sea levels, and disruptions in ecosystems. At Tilestic , we are committed to providing sustainable and effective solutions ♻️ to the growing problem of single-use plastic waste. We strive to reduce the harmful practice of burning plastic waste, maximize its economic value, and raise awareness of its dangers. Our goal is zero waste—achieving cleaner air, a healthier environment, a sustainable system, and a better world for all 💚 . #pollution #ClimateAction #climatechange #airpollution #plasticwaste #recycling #sustainability #COP27 #COP28 #COP29 #civilization #clean #startup #enterpreneurship #SDGs

This year's Earth Day theme, "Plastic Vs. Planet," resonates strongly with current environmental concerns, including global warming and air, water, and soil pollution, with single-use plastic being one of the significant contributors to these issues. According to the UN Environment Program, seven billion tonnes of plastic waste has been generated globally so far, and less than 10 percent has been recycled. If not recycled, plastic breaks down into microplastics that spread everywhere, from the food we eat to the air we breathe, harming both humans and the environment. This Earth Day, let's pledge to make a difference by reducing plastic usage, adopting sustainable practices, and advocating for a cleaner, healthier planet. #EarthDay #EarthDay2024 #SayNoToPlastic #sustainability #GoGreen #SaveThePlanet #IDS2024 #IDS #IDSians

World Earth Day 2024: Joining Forces Against Plastics Pollution In 2024, World Earth Day isn't just another date on the calendar; it's a powerful reminder of our duty to protect our planet. This year, the spotlight is on a critical issue: plastics pollution. Under the banner "Planet vs Plastics," we're called to confront a threat that's impacting every corner of our world. Plastics pollution isn't just harming the environment; it's hurting us all. Picture the sea turtle struggling to free itself from a plastic bag mistaken for food. Imagine the fish ingesting microplastics, only to end up on our dinner plates. It's a cycle of harm that affects not just wildlife, but our own health and well-being. But it's not all doom and gloom. We have the power to make a difference, starting with awareness. By sharing stories, hosting discussions, and educating ourselves and others, we can shine a light on the true cost of plastics pollution. When we understand the impact, we're compelled to act. Taking action means more than just recycling our plastic bottles (though that's a good start). It means rethinking how we use plastics in the first place. It means supporting businesses that prioritize sustainability and advocating for policies that hold polluters accountable. Every choice we make, no matter how small, sends a message. And let's not forget the power of community. When we come together for beach cleanups, neighborhood recycling drives, or local activism, we amplify our impact. We show the world that we're united in our commitment to a cleaner, healthier planet. So, as we mark World Earth Day 2024, let's do more than just pay lip service to the cause. Let's roll up our sleeves and get to work. Let's be the change we wish to see in the world. Together, we can turn the tide on plastics pollution and create a brighter future for generations to come. Happy World Earth Day, Prem A.Ramachandran #PlanetVsPlastics #EarthDay2024 #BeatPlasticPollution #SustainableLiving #PlasticFreeFuture #ReduceReuseRecycle #ProtectOurPlanet #CommunityCleanup #ActOnClimate #GreenLiving #otherthots #premananthramachandran

Happy Earth Day! The theme this year is Planet vs Plastics calling to advocate for widespread awareness on the health risk of plastics and aiming for a bold 60% reduction of plastic production by 2040. Why Planet vs Plastics? Did you know that worldwide - one million plastic bottles are purchased every minute? That by 2050 there will be more plastic in the oceans than there are fish (by weight) if the current trend of plastic pollution isn't stopped. Thousands of sea animals are killed by either ingesting plastic or becoming entangled in it and people are impacted by consuming affected seafood. Single use plastic is produced from fossil fuels, which emits greenhouse gases keeping the Earth's temperature warmer than it would otherwise be. This in turn leads to climate change and natural disasters. Climate change impacts everybody, including koalas. Read more about the day here. www.worldearthday.org

Wisdom from the next generation! Here’s a snippet from my BBC Breakfast interview on Monday, featuring the incredible Eco Guardians at Seabrook Primary School. These bright young minds shared their big ideas for tackling plastic pollution—from banning polystyrene to reusing bottles and turning plastic waste into art. This week, on the other side of the world, negotiators in Busan are working on a legally binding treaty to tackle plastic pollution. It’s a crucial step, but here’s the real question: are we, the grown-ups, ready to act on solutions like the ones these kids are so eager to offer? Catch the full interview on our Youtube channel (https://buff.ly/3CIGUdT ), and let me know what your big idea is to fight plastic pollution. #TheCoastlineRunner #PlasticPollution #PlasticTreaty #EcoGuardians #BBCBreakfast #FutureLeaders #Busan2024 #BBCone #BBCOne? On Monday, September 23, from 2:00 pm to 2:30 pm ET, Anita Spiller, Vice President of ESG at Tru Earth, will lead a session titled "Fueling a Global Movement to Turn Off the Plastic Tap,” at the 2024 Climate & Sustainability Leadership Summit. Spiller will focus on how small, everyday actions can lead to meaningful change. At Tru Earth, their battle is with single-use plastic. The world creates 57 million tons of plastic pollution every year, enough waste to fill the area of New York City’s Central Park with plastic waste as high as the Empire State Building. Most of the plastic waste is from is single-use and short-lived plastic, which isn’t recyclable, remaining on earth for hundreds of years. As a multinational, B Corp household cleaning products organization, Tru Earth's critical cause is to make true lasting change that helps save the planet. Tru Earth innovated the laundry strip category because it’s up to organizations to make it easier for consumers to make more sustainable choices. This session will inspire attendees to join the global movement to reduce the use of harmful plastics and encourage others to make small changes that contribute to a larger environmental impact. https://lnkd.in/eEWjuABq Anita Spiller Tru Earth Renee Martin Gil Bashe Amy Terpeluk Cullen Burnell Glenn Tyranski Henning Stein, Helle Bank Jørgensen, Ann Rosenberg
