🌍 Riyadh Action Agenda Gathers Steam at UNCCD COP16 Land governance took center stage at UNCCD COP16 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, during Governance Day, as discussions focused on addressing land degradation, drought, and desertification. The event highlighted the importance of local, regional, and international efforts, with a strong call for greater cooperation, inclusive finance, and enhanced governance to tackle these pressing issues. The Riyadh Action Agenda, launched by Saudi Arabia, aims to mobilize actors from all sectors to restore 1.5 billion hectares of land by 2030, driving progress on land restoration and drought resilience. Local and regional governments are being empowered to lead the charge, with initiatives like the Global Drought Resilience Partnership gaining momentum. Today I attend UNCCD COP16 in Riyadh KSA. At this Conference I saw government organizations, the private sector, civil society, and global stakeholders engaged in accelerating several sustainable development programs like sustainable cities & communities, sustainable real estates, land management, water and soil conservative etc. COP16 is a critical moment for governments and non-state actors to slow and reverse land degradation. Action at the Riyadh COP is the only way to turn the tide on the loss of fertile land globally.

Few days ago , Our Operation Manager Eng. Moataz Yahya attended COP16Riyadh, one of the most important events in 2024 which hold on Saudi Arabia from 2-13 Dec.2024 organized by UN Convention to Combat Desertification His participation was effective as he met the representation of the States Parties and explore the latest information , Technologies , initiatives such as Saudi Green Initiative and knowledge exchange plus sustainable land practices . He also participated in Sustainability Innovation week & The outcomes in driving transformative efforts to protect land, combat degradation, and build resilience to drought, contributing to global community wellbeing. All Eyes on Saudi 🌍🌿 Saudi Arabia is once again at the forefront of environmental leadership! 🇸🇦🌳 Riyadh has been officially named the Arab Environment Capital for the next two years, solidifying its commitment to sustainability and environmental transformation, all aligned with the nation's ambitious Vision 2030. Here are some key accomplishments driving Saudi Arabia's green future: 🌱 Green Riyadh Initiative: With a goal to plant 7.5 million trees, Riyadh is transforming into a green oasis. This initiative is set to boost the city’s green cover from 1.5% to 9%, significantly increasing green space per capita and improving air quality by reducing carbon dioxide levels by up to 6%. 🌡️ Cooling Down the Capital: Through this initiative, Riyadh is also working to lower temperatures by 1.5 to 2 degrees Celsius by 2030, creating a cooler and more sustainable urban environment. 🌍 King Salman Park: Soon to be the world's largest urban park, King Salman Park is a monumental project aimed at providing much-needed green space and a breath of fresh air in the bustling city. 💧 Leadership in the Arab Region: Saudi Arabia continues to lead by example with initiatives like the Saudi Green Initiative and the Middle East Green Initiative. Embracing Sustainability at COP 16 in Riyadh: A Global Call to Action Attending the opening ceremony of COP 16 in Riyadh was a privilege, as the conference serves as a crucial platform for addressing the pressing global crises of land degradation, drought, and desertification. This pivotal UN conference, with participation from 197 Parties, including 196 countries and the European Union, plays a vital role in shaping international environmental policy. A highlight of the COP 16 experience is the Green Zone, which acts as a dynamic hub fostering dialogue and collaboration among international, regional, and Saudi stakeholders. Designed to complement Saudi Arabia’s ongoing environmental initiatives, such as the Saudi Green Initiative, the Green Zone showcases innovative solutions and engages the public through transformative discussions. Among the insightful exhibitions were showcases on scientific advancements and greening initiatives aimed at combating drought and desertification. One notable session I attended, titled "Innovative Solutions for Global and Regional Drought and Land," featured compelling arguments from delegates and speakers, enhancing the knowledge exchange on these critical issues. As the conference focuses on enhancing land use efficiency, soil restoration, biodiversity protection, and building resilience against drought impacts, it aims to forge sustainable systems that secure food, conserve resources, and improve quality of life. By highlighting Saudi Arabia's commitment to sustainability, COP 16 not only strengthens the Kingdom’s #SoftPower but also sets a precedent for other nations, emphasizing the importance of balancing economic, social, and environmental sustainability. Afforestation Technologies Exhibition Opens at COP16 in Riyadh The second annual International Exhibition and Forum for Afforestation Technologies, organized by the National Center for Vegetation Cover Development and Combating Desertification (المركز الوطني لتنمية الغطاء النباتي ومكافحة التصحر NCVC), opened today in the "COP16" Zone in Riyadh. Opening the forum, NCVC Chief Executive Dr. Khaled bin Abdullah Al-Abdulkader underscored the commitment of the Kingdom, under its leadership's vision, to promoting sustainable development across economic, social, and environmental dimensions, aligning with the objectives of the Saudi Vision 2030.
