International cooperation – centred on the #ParisAgreement – is indispensable to climate action.   Amidst geopolitical divisions and uncertainties, the world needs countries to come together at the #COP29 climate conference to deliver justice in the face of climate catastrophe and move us closer to securing a decent world for all humanity.   My appeal to negotiators and ministers: Soften hard lines. Navigate a path through your differences. Keep your eyes on the bigger picture. Never forget that the future of humanity is at stake.   We need a major push to get discussions over the finishing line, to deliver an ambitious and balanced package on all pending issues, with a new finance goal at its heart.   Climate finance is not a hand-out. It is an investment against the devastation that unchecked climate chaos will inflict on us all. It is a down payment on a safer, more prosperous future for every nation on Earth.   I urge all countries to step-up, pick-up the pace, and deliver. The need for #ClimateAction is urgent. The rewards are great. And time is short.

Good luck with COP29! Instead of trying to fix everything in one big breakthrough step, why not move forward more regularly with small steps that everyone can agree on. Most of the hard things we do in life are realised iteratively, one small step at a time. The Trump administration wants to pull out again of the Paris climate agreement. Could individual US states form a coalition to do this without the federal stamp of approval? I think many Republican and Democratic citizens could put aside their differences and join the rest of the world on this path to change. I don't think red and blue citizens will decide along party lines when it comes to saving the planet. The planet and the children first.

"Time is short"... appropriate words...a stage where we are left with only two options... survival or death. All are aware of the consequences of ignoring the fact but too much involved in activities of their own vested interests...investing in arms manufacture, arms supply , escalation of on going wars in contrary to what actually is required to fight climate change. Even half of the amount spent on arms production , if invested towards climate finance, can work wonders. Thank you, sir, for sharing.

This is very frustrating to see on a number of levels. Firstly, why didn't the Kyoto Protocol stay as the baseline Agreement template with all amendments based on the original. The initial Kyoto too 7 years to negotiate then a 3 year implementation lag and only 4 years of teeth before it is rebranded-supplemented with the Paris Agreement. Kyoto had established standards, vs Paris' self determinism. Kyoto had a more practical strategy for developing nations. The trading and offset were similar to Paris. However it was accused of being too complex, but when I went to the UN sight it had a clear 2 page executive summary of the objectives, timing and mechanisms. I have been digging around on the Paris Agreement on the UN website for almost an hour and there isn't that nice executive summary. Wikipedia's was ok. It was nice to see that there were still legal comments outstanding after 27 years of trying to implement a plan. If the objective is futility, good job. It's becoming a tired playbook utilized internationally and within legislation of many of the member countries. Take forever in committee to come to terms. Implement for minimum time and then have some complaint and withdrawal and return to committee and then rebranding.

All a scam perpetuated by globalists who have a vested interest, their own pockets. Money, always follow the money. #ClimateAction is a scam on Humanity.

If we can’t stop the highest emitters from reducing their CO2 emissions, global warming will continue beyond 1.5°C. The first and second highest emitters are currently China and the U.S., respectively. They need to bring their CO2 emissions down ASAP. Let’s remember that China and the U.S. are just two countries out of close to 200 member countries at the UN, and should not hold so much sway over the future of humanity. If the two countries do not step up to take responsibility for their emissions, the other member countries should come together and hold them to account.

We agree with your excellency, But Several times the ceasefire had implemented or arranged during the conflicting time only and instantly. Nevertheless.. again both of them accumulated the weapons to attack each other..This has to be finalised in one time, It could be done. but these prolonged occurences not only affecting them but also disrupting the entire world's economy. Instance: The current conflict is in between Israel and Palestine, but why should this issue being fabricated across the globe...This has to be think deeply and remove the same. On the other side, Why should the E.U. people has to give more money to the Oil & Gas? Let them enjoy..to.buy cheap fuel... Conflict is different everywhere appearing and disappearing ,This is natural... more will be later... Here our motive is, at any cost, no human being should be terrorised by heart or by body. Perhaps, I /we have the opportunity to share my/our notion to the executive committee of UN..to solve the international issues I/we will be greatly satisfied to serve the entire Humanity

I am confident that this statement is a powerful reminder of the critical importance of international cooperation in addressing the climate crisis. The Paris Agreement remains the bedrock for global climate action, but to truly make progress, nations must rise above geopolitical divides and act with unity and urgency. The appeal to negotiators and ministers is timely—climate action must be grounded in collaboration, where hard lines are softened and common ground is prioritized for the greater good of humanity. The call for a new finance goal is especially significant. Climate finance should not be viewed as charity, but as a strategic investment in the survival and prosperity of all nations. This funding is essential to mitigate the impacts of climate change and enable vulnerable countries to adapt to new realities. As the clock ticks, it is imperative that all nations step up, show leadership, and make the investments necessary for a safer, more equitable world. The stakes have never been higher, and the time to act is now. Let’s push for ambitious, actionable outcomes that reflect the urgency of the climate crisis.

COPs, whether on fossil fuels or plastics, are useless unless someone comes with a simple plan that tells corporate leaders that their current business model is no longer acceptable and they must change. The duty of directors the world over tells them to act in the best interests of shareholders. Under that regime, no director is going to walk away from the huge investment their company has in maintaining the status quo (i.e., burning fossil fuels and emitting greenhouse gases or producing plastic waste). The existing duty needs boundaries. At the next COP, a vote should be taken on whether corporations, in the absence of a law requiring otherwise, should have the right to cause severe harm to the environment. If not, the duty of directors should be changed from "act in the best interests of shareholders" to "act in the best interests of shareholders so long as it doesn't cause severe harm to the environment." The duty of directors is essentially the same everywhere. It's a simple change. It doesn't need to be debated (like there has been at the 29 COPs so far--without result). Governments can assist companies that will be adversely affected with their transition, where necessary. It will be a small price to pay.

Our Respected Antonio Guterres Sir This is my/Our Suggestion is>>As of now... The entire turmoil of war has to be stopped to terminate the Over pollution on the roof of / on entire Globe...Why? I/we mean, normally we are talking about factory pollution, Fossil fuel pollution, thermal power pollution , Chemical waste mixing pollution etc. would be the Major cause for Climate damage.. but as per current situation These are nothing as compared to the war exploded pollution.. At present...The Bomb Exploded Pollution in Israel - Palestine, might be 20 fold to 30^ fold of Japan Atom bomb attack...1945 Another one.... Russia vs Ukraine war >>>>exploded How many tonnes of pollution... Probability of Taiwan based situation.. perhaps occured How many tonnes of pollution going to heap in the entire beautiful globe environment... In this regard your excellency taking maximum measures to control everything for the betterment of the Globe. Another analysis also available for our suggestion but it needs to be discussed,if i/we have the opportunity to contribute in UN.
