Learning from fellow recruiters is always a joy. For instance, have you come across any creative ways to advertise jobs lately? I often dive into job boards to explore a variety of roles and see how different recruiters are crafting their job ads. Some job adverts out there are like works of art! They inject personality, delve into organisational culture, highlight employee benefits, and take you on a journey through the role's responsibilities. The templates they use are consistent and tailored to each position. (Fist pumping the air in excitement! 🙌 ). On the flip side, there are those ads that make you squint and wonder, "What were they thinking?" Spelling errors, missing company pitches, vague roles, and benefits—yikes! It's like a rollercoaster for your eyes. 🎢 No finger-pointing or trumpet-blowing here, just a friendly nudge to my fellow recruiters: let's spruce up those job ad templates! Back to basics, clear structure, and a compelling story about the role and your expectations can make all the difference. Most job ads are terrible. If you want to attract the right candidates in 2025, then check out how Mike Bradshaw and his team write their their job ads. 👇 If companies put the same amount of effort into their job ads as they do to promote their company, then they would see a huge uplift in both the volume and quality of job applications. Instead, most companies simply copy and paste the job description. A job description that's vague and jammed full of everything the candidate might end up doing. And looks like every other job out there. Sure, it might work if you've got great brand recognition. But if you're like most companies, it'll just end up looking like every other job advert out there. And candidates don't want to see generic job descriptions. They want to understand much more before applying.
