Did you know that the Three-Body Problem is one of the most captivating problems in celestial mechanics? 🤔 In classical mechanics, solving the motion of two bodies interacting under gravity is straightforward (think Earth 🌍 and the Moon 🌕). But when we add a third body, chaos takes over. The system becomes non-deterministic, meaning small changes in initial conditions can lead to dramatically different outcomes over time—making it incredibly difficult to predict the exact motion of the three bodies. This chaotic behavior makes the Three-Body Problem a perfect challenge for numerical simulation. In my latest video, I explore this concept using #Python and showcase the unpredictable yet fascinating trajectories of three gravitationally bound objects. 📈 🚀 Want to see the simulation in action? Check out my latest #YouTube video! 🔗 [Link] https://lnkd.in/dXJNuz76 🔗 Source code [Link] https://lnkd.in/gVU3nCaW 🚀 Interested in learning Python for #science and #engineering applications? Machine Learning in Three Easy Lessons https://lnkd.in/eKhykQye Learn machine learning with neural networks in three to four hours, from scratch. Only prerequisite: basic knowledge of python and numpy. I prepared this little online book, complete with code examples, for a summer school for physicists at ICTP Trieste last week. We introduce jax, which is very simple and yet powerful and state of the art, and apply it to two examples from physics. I think it cannot get easier than this. 🙂 Enjoy! No installations required thanks to Google colab. Feedback welcome! #NeuralNetworks #MachineLearning #Jax #Tutorials Max Planck Institute for the Science of Light Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP)

An exciting period at #epflcampus has come to an end. I met many new people in the THEOS group and am still overhelmed by the warm welcome 🙏. It was a very intense collaboration sparking with creativity and new ideas 💡. I learned how to use AiiDA, a complex Python-based tool for managing research data 🐍💻. AiiDAs magic allows you to create automated workflows for executing complex calculation chains 🔗, organise your data and visualise its provenance 🌳, and filter and evaluate exactly the quantities of interest 📊. I am sure it will be extremely useful for screening the materials cloud database for novel photoexcited phase transitions. Many thanks to the group and especially its head Prof. Nicola Marzari, who made this stay possible! #research #science #physics #materials #python #datascience #dataanalytics

This summer, I was invited by Fakulta informačních technologií VUT v Brně , my alma mater, to lead an introductory machine learning workshop for a group of female high school students as part of a week-long summer school. Machine learning is a broad and complex topic, and for someone like me—who's been out of high school for a while—it was a bit challenging to find the right balance between presenting what I find interesting and making it accessible to a typical high school audience. Despite it being summer, I decided to dive a little into the mathematical side of things. We discussed mathematical functions and even touched on the often-feared term "derivative." From my own high school experience, I remember the rigidity of math classes, where the practical application of concepts was rarely explained. I wanted to bridge that gap, so I used interactive examples and Python Notebooks to make the material more engaging. We worked through several tutorials, starting with basic mathematical functions plotting, moving on to linear regression, and eventually training a small ML model using the PyTorch library. Toward the end, I also shared some of the exciting Machine Learning projects we’re working on at TESCAN 3DIM, s.r.o. , such as CBCT segmentation, orthodontic landmarks detection, automatic teeth alignment or electron microscopy data denoising. Based on the feedback I received, the workshop was well-received, and many students found it engaging and informative. I hope that among them, there's someone who feels inspired to explore this field further and maybe even follow a path similar to mine. After all, that would be the most rewarding outcome for me.
