Active in the US since 2015, Eolus has developed and sold more than 900 MW renewable energy projects in North America. Another milestone has now been achieved, as the owner of the Centennial Flats solar and battery storage project has decided to start construction. The project was developed by Eolus and sold in 2022. As a result of this milestone, Eolus has received a substantial payment of USD 64.7 million. “I am excited to see the owner making an investment decision for the Centennial Flats project. This is a proof of the great appetite for investments in renewable energy and battery energy storage projects in the US. The US currently accounts for 20% of Eolus’ project portfolio. Being active in several markets and technologies is an important part of Eolus’ strategy”, says Per Witalisson, CEO of Eolus. Centennial Flats will have an aggregate capacity of 500 MWac solar photovoltaic generation and 267 MW battery storage capacity, with the capacity to generate more than 1,000 GWh of plannable and renewable electricity per year. Eolus North America is currently developing projects of 5,800 MW in the western United States, including the ongoing construction of the Pome 100 MW stand-alone battery energy storage project in the San Diego area.
