"Embracing offshore wind energy is paramount to achieving our state’s [California] clean energy objectives and moving toward independence from fossil fuels," former San Luis Obispo Mayor Heidi Harmon said. An outspoken champion, she recently participated in a gathering of elected officials and stakeholders discussing offshore wind power development on the Morro Bay coast. California is laying the foundation to supply clean electricity to 25 million homes through 25 gigawatts of offshore wind power by 2045. The project off the coast of Morro Bay will generate 2 gigawatts of power as part of this ambitious initiative. "We must advance offshore wind to guarantee benefits for workers, habitats, Indigenous tribes, and the community at large while adhering to labor and environmental protections," Harmon concluded. #EOPA #windpower #offshorewind #infrustructureimprovment #windturbines #windpowerCalifornia #renewableenergy #cleanenergy #greenenergy #windfarm #energy #windturbines #renewables #sustainability #windenergy #climatechange #savetheplanet #protecttheplanet #electedofficials #morrobay #California #environmentcare #offshorewindproject #offshorewindprojects

🌊 Exciting news in the offshore wind sector! OW Ocean Winds has received the green light for the environmental review of its BC-Wind transmission line infrastructure. This vital milestone underscores the importance of building renewable energy capacity and meeting our climate goals. As a team, we have consistently advocated for the expansion of offshore wind projects being vital in the low-carbon transition. With this approval, Ocean Winds is one step closer to enhancing energy transmission and fostering sustainable practices in our industry. The development of such infrastructure is critical not only for project efficiency but also for supporting local economies and job creation in the transition to greener energy sources. What does this mean for the future of offshore wind? 🤔 It showcases the necessity for robust regulatory frameworks that enable projects to progress while balancing environmental considerations. We invite industry peers to share their thoughts on the challenges and opportunities that accompany such important decisions. The journey toward a sustainable energy future is fraught with hurdles, but successes like this reinforce the possibilities that lie ahead. Let’s continue to champion initiatives that support renewable energy development! 🌱🔋 #OffshoreWind #RenewableEnergy #Sustainability #EnergyTransition #OceanWinds #ClimateAction #BCWind

The US government has granted approval for Avangrid's New England Wind offshore wind project, which will have a capacity of 2.6GW. The project is expected to power nearly 4 million homes and create thousands of jobs while contributing to lowering consumer costs and combating climate change. The project involves the installation of 129 turbines off the coast of Massachusetts and includes measures to minimize environmental impact, as outlined in the Environmental Impact Statement. The approval of the New England Wind project adds to the growing momentum in the offshore wind industry under the Biden-Harris administration, with eight large-scale projects totalling over 10GW approved so far. https://lnkd.in/efXWuFC5 #OffshoreWind #BidenAdministration #OdinGlobal
