"Remember -- your love for bacon can make a big difference!" Funny, but true. There is a serious side to this too. The Walworth County Food and Diaper Bank is a great organization, and symbolic of many which are responding to food insecurity in our communities. In our particular case our Bank serves, at some point during the year, about 5 percent of our county's population - distributing $5M of food across 16,000+ guest encounters. All of this is made possible by roughly 120 volunteers whose work seems never ending. Those we serve are primarily referred to as ALICE (asset-limited, income-constrained, and employed). In other words, neighbors in situations where one car repair, medical bill, or unexpected expense can force a difficult decision about food. A full 40 percent of those we serve in a year come only once. 70 percent receive food from us four times or less in a year. In our county, and probably yours too, up to 35 percent of our residents fall into the ALICE classification. Those are really staggering numbers when you think about them. And food for thought as well (sorry). If all those numbers seem daunting, come and celebrate some bacon with us! 😁 #foodinsecurity #foodbank #neighborshelpingneighbors

𝐇𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐟𝐞𝐥𝐭 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐨𝐝𝐝 𝐛𝐢𝐫𝐝 𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐢𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐲? 🐓💙 Ever seen a massive blue rooster strut its stuff? There is a place in the world of corporate cattle to be a blue rooster – unique, confident, and a splash of unexpected color. 𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐞'𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐩𝐞𝐩 𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐤, 𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐞𝐝 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐚 𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐩𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐫𝐲 𝐡𝐮𝐦𝐨𝐫: 🧠 When they call you "crazy," remember: Your vision is the early morning wake-up call the world needs. 🔥 If they label you as "intense," wear that label like a rooster wears its comb. Your passion isn't just intense, it's egg-citing! (Sorry, couldn't resist.) 🌱 Should they call you "selfish", understand this: You're not selfish, you're simply feathering your own nest. Self-care isn't just good for the goose. Like a giant blue rooster in a barnyard of ordinary chickens, 𝐲𝐨𝐮'𝐫𝐞 𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐫𝐮𝐟𝐟𝐥𝐞 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐟𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐬. But remember, it's the unusual birds that make people stop and take notice. One day, those same voices that once cried fowl will be crowing your praises, 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐦𝐚𝐠𝐧𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐛𝐥𝐮𝐞 𝐛𝐢𝐫𝐝 𝐨𝐟 𝐛𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬! 🐓💼 #CockAdoodleDisrupt #RoosterMindset #BlueChickenLeadership #PersonalGrowth

A head of a household provided for everything: children, slaves, cattle, dogs, pigs, wheat, barley, straw, hay, bones, meat, and acorns. He was intelligent and knew the appropriate food for each one. He offered bread, oil, and meat to the children; castor oil and wheat to the slaves; barley, straw, and hay to the animals; bones to the dogs; acorns and leftover bread to the pigs. The same happens with God's disciple: if he is intelligent, he understands what it is to be a disciple. Bodily forms will not be able to deceive him; he will focus on the disposition of each one’s soul and thus speak with him. There are many animals in the world that have human forms. If you are able to recognize them, you will throw acorns to the pigs, while to the cattle you will give barley, straw, and hay; to the dogs, bones; to the slaves, you will distribute rudimentary food; and to the children, the perfect. #Leadership #Wisdom #Intelligence #Management #Discipleship #HumanNature #Insight #Understanding #SpiritualWisdom #FoodForThought #LifeLessons #Knowledge #IntellectualGrowth #HumanBehavior #Philosophy

See these scruffy, sickly, scared little things in the top image? Then see them now enjoying themselves thoroughly in the bottom image? Some of you may know that one of the things that gives me huge joy is my rescue chickens, which I started to keep during lockdown. They are a bye-product of the egg industry (don't be fooled, just because they are not in individual cages, laying hens have the most awful lives, only to be slaughtered at 18 months because their poor little bodies can't manage to lay an egg a day any more). So I have space for 6 of these lovely animals. When they arrive, they are pale, they have never seen sunshine, grass or had a dust-bath and it is so rewarding to see them recover, grow new feathers and just be chickens, doing chicken stuff! Oh and of course you get the eggs! Yes they do taste much better than the ones from the supermarket. You also suddenly get to be really good friends with your neighbours, who just love a surprise box of fresh eggs every now and then. What is your thing that makes the world just that little bit better? By the way, if you are interested in getting some rescue chickens, I got mine from The British Hen Welfare Trust. I promise you, it's one of the most rewarding things you will ever do! #givingback #rescuehens #rewarding #happiness

Link: From "Worthless" Wild Pineapple I harvested it and sold it at the market for a lot of money (youtube.com) Initially, I stumbled upon an area where a lot of wild pineapples were grown while walking in the forest. This type of pineapple goes unnoticed because they think they have no economic value. However, after research and testing, I found out that wild pineapple has a special flavor and can be processed into many attractive products. I started harvesting wild pineapples carefully and brought them home. Then I tried making juices, jams, and even desserts from wild pineapples. These products quickly received attention and favor from friends and relatives. Realizing the business potential, I decided to bring wild pineapple products to the market for trial sale. At first, people were apprehensive, but after trying and finding it delicious, they started buying more. I didn't expect that these wild pineapples would bring a significant source of income. Not only that, I also expanded the scale of harvesting and developed more wild pineapple products such as dried pineapple, sugar-soaked pineapple and even pineapple wine. These products are becoming more and more popular and help me make great profits. From a seemingly worthless plant, I have turned it into a stable source of income and created many unique products, attracting many customers. This experience has taught me that sometimes true value does not lie in what is obvious, but in how we perceive and exploit its potential.

Do you have a file titled 'Good Advice'? You can add this to the file - interesting comparison and thoughts See what you think... "Bees, being pollinators, help make up to one out of every three bites of food that humans eat. Honeybees achieve this through a distinct governance structure in which the queen sets the tone for the characteristics and culture of her hive, but she wisely leans on counsel from an older generation of worker bees— acting as the board of directors that guide the rank and file of the colony.
