It's a complex and evolving landscape, but one that offers significant opportunities for businesses to differentiate themselves and create a more positive impact on the planet. step-by-step approach to navigating the regulatory landscape: 1️⃣ Stay informed: Keep up-to-date on the latest regulations in industry and region. 2️⃣ Assess impact: Conduct a comprehensive assessment of supply chain to identify areas where we may be falling short of sustainability requirements. 3️⃣ Develop a plan: Create a plan to address any gaps & identify sustainability performance. 4️⃣ Collaborate: Work with other stakeholders, such as suppliers, customers, and NGOs, to develop and implement sustainable solutions. 5️⃣ Track and report: Regularly track progress on sustainability goals and report findings to stakeholders. How can organisations successfully articulate their sustainability efforts in a way that demonstrates their commitment to long-term progress, whilst avoiding falling foul of greenwashing tactics? Here are some key red flags that organisations should investigate more closely within their supply chains: 🔴 The overuse of terms like ‘green,’ ‘organic’ and ‘sustainable’ to purposely mislead customers or paint an image of an environmentally friendly company and product.. 🔴 A lack of evidence - if a company claims ethical practice, its production should be easy to trace. 🔴 Relevancy - simply following basic environmental laws does not mean a company can claim ethical practice. 🔴 Smoke and mirrors - narrow or skewed criteria, or using one small area of sustainability to paint a better overall picture of the business.
