With the right skills, everything is attainable Many of you have asked whether someone with a background in Hindi journalism or digital journalism can secure a job in TV reporting or work in front of the camera. The answer is yes—anything is possible! I am a testament to this. I completed my studies in Hindi journalism at IIMC and now work in TV. Several of my batchmates, both from Hindi and English journalism backgrounds, are also working as reporters or anchors on TV, despite not having specialized in radio or TV journalism. Many of my colleagues in TV started in print journalism. Some Hindi journalism graduates now work for English channels and vice versa, setting a great example. You can switch to any department according to your choice as long as you have the required skill set to grab the job. To work in front of the camera, you need excellent communication skills and a camera-friendly presence. Strong writing skills and bilingual proficiency are essential, as today's channels seek candidates who can work in multiple languages. After studying journalism, various roles become available. It's not necessary to work only in media; you can transition to roles such as a public relations officer, media coordinator, teaching associate, translater and many more. Everything is possible if you have the right skills. Never lose hope; you can secure any job with the right skills. I have searched for internships, Jobs, sent in numerous mails, still no luck!! Have you checked your CV? Here is a tip from the Lawrit Journal boot camp 4.0, Contents of a Good CV for such purpose: 1. Contact information. *Your Name. * Your residence (e.g Lagos, NG) * Phone number (adding your country code) * Email address (give an officially looking email and not something like hotboy4you@gmaill.🤭 2. Education. As an undergraduate. *The year you started to present. For example 2022-present. Avoid putting dates that you plan completing your degree. 3. Include previous work experience(s) if any. 4. Include volunteering experience (s), you see why it is important to volunteer yourself in meaningful and impact driven activities. However, A work CV is totally different from an Academic CV. 5. State potential prospects which you have that is needed in the firm/company, and this can only be known after a deep research has been made. 6. Potential skills you possess that is needed in such firm.
