To achieve meaningful impact with medical education, it’s essential we address accessibility. All healthcare professionals involved in the patient pathway should have clinically relevant scientific content at their fingertips, easily accessible and digestible. But we know most don’t have time to go looking for it and, too often, access is not equitable for all. In my new article, I dive into the access challenges healthcare professionals face globally and discuss how EPG Health is working to overcome them. We’ve made it our mission to democratise access and ensure every precious learning moment we earn with healthcare professionals provides valuable knowledge that inspires them to make a difference for patients. It goes without saying that the way healthcare professionals engage with educational content has changed dramatically over recent years. We’ve observed how their preferences and behaviour have shifted towards bite-sized digital learning that fits around their busy clinical schedules. But where does this leave us when it comes to measuring the impact of that engagement? It’s clear that in the digital world, new approaches are needed that go beyond reporting basic ‘volume’ metrics. We have to make the most of the deep behavioural insights that are now obtainable through data analytics. In this article, I discuss how at EPG Health these insights are enabling us to build a clear view of HCP learning journeys, design education that will truly resonate with HCP audiences and confidently report meaningful ‘Impact Outcomes’ that demonstrate the fulfilment of educational needs.

Although empathy is sometimes seen as an abstract ideal, students and clinicians can grasp it intuitively. Empathy means perceiving patients’ needs, connecting personally, and dedicating time to meaningful interactions. One challenge is translating these intuitive understandings into actionable, teachable, measurable skills across diverse cultures and healthcare systems. Another is articulating a clear and universally accepted definition of empathy. In my teaching experience with medical students and residents, I emphasize the importance of respect, holistic care, genuine interest, and creating a real connection with patients. I’ve noticed that when we define empathy clearly, teach it systematically, and measure it in practical settings, healthcare outcomes improve for both patients and providers. #HealthcareEducation #Empathy #MedicalTraining #PatientCare #TeachingHealthcare
