At the current rate of decline, it is predicted that only 1,000 childminders will be left in England by 2025. Latest data shows that only 3% of current childcare sector workers are men. We believe that children should be looked after, and educated by, a workforce that represents the community it serves - that they should grow up with lived experience of men and women working together as caregivers and educators. There is a clear need for action to increase the number of highly trained people, and men in particular, working in the early years sector. If you're interested in a career in childcare, or simply want to learn more, access our resource (developed in partnership with Professional Association for Childcare and Early Years (PACEY)) as part of our Men in the Early Years Campaign here: https://lnkd.in/eB5BANGK This National Childminding Week, PACEY have launched their manifesto for childminders 👇 #childminders #earlyyears #childcare #uk #MITEY #meninearlyyears
To commemorate Childminding Week 2024, PACEY proudly presents its new manifesto for childminders! This calls for urgent government action to address plummeting childminder numbers, ensuring children have the very best start in life. See more and read the manifesto here 👉 https://lnkd.in/ezwiMKgD

AI should be leveraging our collective consciousness, and pragmatically basic human wellness guarantees. Should free up our time to take care of our and other "selves", raise the valuation of our life, today reduced into "work" (that nowadays serve mostly to concentrate money and increase inequality all over the world). Ok, some exceptions prosperate in the population, but they are exception and we should see them as exceptions, not the economically dominant's lie. We can shift mankind into a better place, to work for living and not living to work, to be paid to be happy, not to be exploited so a few can accumulate too much money at the same time most of Earth is in debt, without credit, without money, no place for living healthy, no healthy food. We can close our eyes to what shouts around us, but we shouldn't.

Damn, this video is powerful. Try to watch it with the sound on without shedding a tear. 🥺 We need caregiving to be a major election issue in 2024. And in every election beyond. It'll soon affect everyone. ❤️ h/t Caring Across Generations Nicole Jorwic Ai-jen Poo

This week marks the four year anniversary of the first Covid-19 #lockdown in the UK. We look back as Save the Children UK, alongside Just for Kids Law and Children's Rights Alliance for England joined forces as Core Participants in Module 2 of the Covid-19 public inquiry. This module delved into the core decision-making processes and political governance during the pandemic. 💔 While the pandemic impacted everyone, its effects on babies, children, and young people will be enduring and era-defining. 📢 We actively engaged in the Covid-19 public inquiry to shed light on how the UK government's decisions affected children and families. Our report, "What about the children?" outlines these impacts. 👇 #CovidInquiry #ChildrensRights #WhatAboutTheChildren #SaveTheChildren

I was struck by a powerful post today highlighting the £45,000 per child per year profit made by private providers of children’s services. Let that sink in—it’s not the cost of care, it’s the profit. Katharine Sacks-Jones , CEO of Become, spoke about this on Radio 4’s Today Programme, and her words hit hard. Despite these staggering profits, the quality of care is often poor. Vulnerable children—the very people these services are meant to protect—are being failed because profit is being prioritised over people. This has been a concern of ours at P3 Charity (People Potential Possibilities) for years, and people like Kathy Evans and many others have been shouting about this for decades. The fact that these issues are still making headlines today speaks volumes about how little progress has been made. The government’s current challenge to the sector doesn’t seem to go far enough, but it’s a start. We need bold, decisive action to ensure that care is driven by the needs of children, not the pockets of shareholders. Care for people who need it most shouldn’t be viewed as a business opportunity first and foremost; it’s a responsibility. I hope that with the new government we can work towards a future where children in care receive the compassion, support, and opportunities they deserve—not subpar services built on vast corporate profits.
