The Nusantara Capital Authority (OIKN) highlights the importance of developing the new capital city, Nusantara, for achieving equitable economic growth as part of the Golden Indonesia 2045 Vision. OIKN aims to create an economic hub that will drive equitable development, a key factor in Indonesia's goal to become a developed country by 2045. The IKN Master Plan designates East Kalimantan Province for Nusantara's development based on strategic geographical factors, existing infrastructure, and the potential for regional growth. By establishing the new capital on Kalimantan Island, the government seeks to promote development in regions beyond Java and foster equitable growth throughout Indonesia. #BritChamID #Indonesia #IKN

I had the pleasure of being interviewed by SeaToday MCR where I shared some perspectives on Prabowo's presidency. On 20 October 2024, Indonesia witnessed a significant political shift with the election of Prabowo Subianto as its new president, with major implications for its foreign policy. However, how will foreign policy actually change under Prabowo? Unlike Joko Widodo, who primarily focused on domestic economic development, Prabowo may adopt a more active and decisive approach, particularly concerning issues like the South China Sea dispute, strengthening Indonesia’s defenses in the region. He may push for regional economic integration, aiming to solidify Indonesia’s leadership role within ASEAN (even though on this point we should be very attentive to how ASEAN will evolve in Prabowo's perspective). Another point is his tendency to bolster ties with Beijing, but at the same time, he could maintain a policy of “active neutrality” to balance relations with Washington. #Indonesia #Prabowo #PathForward #Politics Prabowo Subianto: Guiding Indonesia’s Path Forward Part 1/3: https://lnkd.in/dNtaSxVM Part 2/3: https://lnkd.in/d8qjpBjE Part 3/3: https://lnkd.in/ddGSpfFu Fachrian Bachri
