National Disability Independence Day occurs every year on July 26, commemorating the anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), which protects people with disabilities from discrimination of all kinds. In the disability community, able-bodied people are referred to as “temporarily able-bodied” as a reminder that a disability can occur to anyone and anytime– especially later on in life. GLP Attorneys is proud to support clients with disabilities and advocate for their rights. On National Disability Independence Day, we encourage you to learn more about ADA and how you can break stigmas and barriers within your community. Did you know that July is Disability Pride Month? Disability Pride Month started in 1990, soon after the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) was signed into law on July 26, 1990. This month is dedicated to honoring the journeys, achievements, and challenges faced by individuals with disabilities, whether those disabilities are visible or not. My Employment Options, as advocates of diversity and inclusion, remains dedicated to assisting job seekers with disabilities in securing meaningful employment, not just in July but throughout the year. #DisabilityPrideMonth #DisabilityPride #InclusionMatters #ADA #DisabilityAwareness #DisabilityInclusion #RepresentationMatters

No more waitlists! This National Disability Employment Awareness Month, we’re advocating for “Access to good jobs for all.” It’s easy to say we want better job access for people with disabilities, but it seems much harder to implement. This month, we're sharing actions on how YOU can improve employment outcomes for people with disabilities. Put your favorite in the comments (or let us know your action plan!). 👉 Ask your lawmakers to increase access to and budgets for home- and community-based waivers (HCBS). This will help expand Medicaid HCBS—and reduce waitlists! 👉 Learn more: https://ow.ly/mtRp50TPLzR #NDEAM2024 #DisabilityEmployment #EmploymentforAll #InclusionWorks

July is Disability Pride Month, a time to honor diverse experiences and promote the rights, independence, and visibility of individuals with disabilities. Disability Pride means embracing one's full identity, including disabilities, and it holds different meanings for everyone. The spectrum of disability is intersectional and diverse, and we celebrate and recognize this in our work with clients both in therapy and beyond. Many people with disabilities experience ableism—behaviors, practices, norms, laws, and institutions that assume people with disabilities are inherently less capable and valuable. Ableism leads to inaccessible and exclusive environments. We support our clients in overcoming ableism and discrimination, empowering them to view their disability as an integral aspect of their unique beauty, identity, and value. #DisabilityPrideMonth #DisabilityAwareness #InclusiveTherapy #MentalHealthMatters #Empowerment #AbleismAwareness #Intersectionality #TherapistsForChange #CelebrateDifferences #DisabilityAdvocacy #AccessibilityForAll #HolisticWellBeing #TherapyWorks #StrengthInDiversity #DisabilityEmpowerment #BeauregardCreativeArtsTherapy

Whether it’s Special Olympics , The Arc of the United States or REV UP who helps disabled voters get registered I firmly believe we need to remind people that we are voting and that we have rights that need to be met! What are YOU going to do about SSI? What are YOU going to do about SSDI? What are YOU going to do about ending the Disability Marriage penalty? What are YOU going to do about protecting Disability Healthcare? What are YOU going to do about about Respecting and Protecting the Rights Disabled people have in the ADA? (Americans with Disabilities act) We have many people that can represent from the North to the South, The East to the West our nation is filled with people that are helped by these organizations. We need to visible. We need to be heard. I think a think a video featuring Disabled Self Advocates from these organizations would do both! Especially if this Video were run before a debate. Solo I can only do so much. TOGETHER we can make a great impact. https://lnkd.in/gVcPSZwx #Disability #Unity #DisabilityRightsAreHumanRights #Capability #TogetherWeCanDoSoMuch
