🌟 Match Report: Epworth Forest U10 Lionesses vs. Narborough Foxes! 🦁⚽ Last weekend the Epworth Forest U10 Lionesses faced off against Narborough Foxes in an exciting match! 🦁⚽ Before the game, the girls had the wonderful opportunity to meet and express their gratitude to Dave from Britannia Buffet Services, the generous sponsor of their home kit. 🙌 While the final score might not fully reflect the outcome, the girls delivered a commendable performance at times, showcasing their ability to play out from the back and execute some impressive passages of play. 🌟 Unfortunately, a few lapses in concentration led to some "soft" chances conceded, which we could have managed more effectively. We concentrated on our style of play, emphasising passing and movement, as opposed to a direct long-ball approach 👀. We controlled enough of the game and created more than enough chances, and on another day, those opportunities would have found the back of the net but it wasn’t our day. Selecting the Coach's Player of the Match was challenging as always, but we felt Isla earned the honour! 🏆 She was the driving force behind many of our attacks, displaying good skills and determination throughout the game. Additionally, Miya was awarded the Parents' Player of the Match for her solid defensive performance, showcasing great tackling and composure on the ball. 🙌💪

The BEST Sporing event over 3-weeks! Here are a dozen interesting facts to help fill out your Men's Bracket - 🏀 Not only has a No. 15 seed won a first-round game in three consecutive years for the first time, but all three went on to reach the Sweet 16 as well. 🏀 In the past five tourneys, 14 of the 20 matchups between No. 4 and No. 13 seeds were decided by single digits, the most of anyfirst-round seed pairing. 🏀 At least one top-4 seed has lost in the first round in 14 of the past 15 tournaments. 🏀 At least one No. 12 seed has defeated a No. 5 seed in 32 of 38 tournaments. 🏀 A double-digit seed has advanced to the Sweet 16 in 15 straight tournaments and 36 of 38 overall. 🏀 In the 68-team era (since 2011), there have been just as many No. 15 seeds to reach the Sweet 16 as No. 12s (four). 🏀 All four No. 2 seeds have reached the Sweet 16 just twice in the past 26 tournaments. 🏀 Last year marked the first time an Elite Eight did not have at least one No. 1 seed present. 🏀 At least one team seeded seventh or worse has reached the Final Four in nine of the past 10 tourneys. 🏀 It's been 32 years since a No. 6 seed made the Final Four, by far the longest drought among seeds that have a Final Four appearance. 🏀 There has not been a repeat champion since Florida in 2007. Since then, no defending champ has advanced past the Sweet 16. 🏀 A No. 5 seed has never won a championship, the only seed in the top 8 that hasn't done so. #MarchMadness #TourneyTime #FinalFourPHX

When I win or lose, it's simple. I either made or missed more of the ordinary shots during the match. If your opponent wins an amazing point, remember, it's worth the same as a missed forehand in the net. Be ordinary. Win more matches. #winning #tennismindset #mentalcoaching #tenniscoach #tennisperformance #wolfetennisperformance

🔬 Research Wednesday Spotlight: Unveiling Lineout Defensive Strategies in Rugby Union 🏉 Welcome to this week’s Research Wednesday! Today, we explore a study on the lineout defensive strategies of the top six English Championship rugby union teams from the 2022/23 season by Olly Dale. Olly is now one of the first team analysts at Ealing Trailfinders Rugby Club Olly undertook an analysis of 1493 lineouts and revealed that attacking teams had an 80% success rate. Key defensive tactics included contesting the throw in the air, challenging in front of the jumper, and defending near the front to force throws to the back. Zone A (attacking zone) was the most successful for attacking teams with an 85.5% success rate. The Scrum Half was the most common channel defender, appearing in 69.2% of lineouts. The 6-Man lineout formation was the most successful, with an 83.6% success rate. During the lineout, mirroring was the most used defensive strategy, while the Static Pod, though least used, was the most successful defensively. Contesting in front of the jumper was particularly effective, disrupting nearly half of the throws. The Maul was the most observed ball delivery method, used in 45.5% of lineouts. These insights can help coaches, players, and analysts develop better defensive strategies and refine attacking tactics. Let’s continue to innovate and refine our approaches based on solid data and analysis.
