As part of Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree in Smart Cities and Communities (SMACCs), my teammates and I recently took on an exciting challenge: conducting an Energy Audit for a high school in Pamplona, Navarra, Spain. What started as a technical project quickly became a meaningful lesson in how small, intentional changes can lead to big impacts—both financially and environmentally. 🔑 What We Discovered: The school relies heavily on natural gas for heating, contributing to high energy costs and significant CO2 emissions. Annual energy use included 96,686 kWh of electricity and 608,877.71 kWh of natural gas—with plenty of room for improvement. 💡 What We Proposed: integrating LED lighting and renewable energy systems, our recommendations focus on reducing costs, improving efficiency, and lowering emissions. 🌿 Why This Matters: This project wasn’t just about numbers—it’s about creating a blueprint for how buildings can become more sustainable. It was inspiring to realize how much we can contribute to a greener future through our work. A huge thank you to our teacher Jon Terés-Zubiaga for their invaluable guidance throughout this project, and to my amazing teammates, Bibek Himalaya, Nadim Ahmed for their hard work, insights, and collaboration. Projects like this remind me why I’m passionate about energy engineering and sustainability. Let’s keep pushing boundaries and finding solutions for a better tomorrow! 🌍 #ErasmusMundus #EnergyAudit #Sustainability #Teamwork #EngineeringForGood
