A fun personality assessment session with their parents! Just listened to this amazing podcast! What I loved about this was how Louis Pope's focus on people drove so much of his conversation. Here are some of my favorite moments/quotes: Louis tells about a customer asking about their quality plan. They didn't have one. So they hired an expert and became ISO 9000. His values: work should be fun and it should be about everyone. He frequently cited data that showed the effects of their people focus (low turnover rate, salary changes from year 1 to year 5, ratio of CEO salary to mean salary), but you could tell that the data supported his focus on people, not the other way around. He chose the things he did because "it was right and good." Several times he talked about being genuine. "Take care of your employees and your customers. Be generous and genuine." I love the example he gave of having a "young guy" come back eager to implement lean manufacturing and said, ok, do it. You can tell that he set up an environment where people could be engaged and bring their best selves to work, not one where ego and image were the priority. I cannot believe I got to sit down with this guy. An absolute LEGEND in the manufacturing industry. This is possibly one of the best Making Utah interviews to date. US Synthetic, this one's for you. Here's what I loved learning about your founder Louis Pope. 1. While he was working at US Synthetic, he'd get his engineers to make wild contraptions, including a human slingshot Nitro Circus got a hold of. 2. He is remembered rolling a cannon down the halls of the building to launch bowling balls into the field out back. 3. US Synthetic was barely hanging on for 13 years before it saw exponential growth. 4. The company has been through multiple acquisitions. You have to learn what the first offer for their company was vs. the third. 😱 WHAT?! 5. He departed US Synthetic with the resources to do a lot of good in the world, and he has been doing just that ever since. Thanks Natalie Fairbourne for making this conversation possible. In InTimeTec, every offsite gives a different perspective on things, which is why we say, 'Nothing will change, but you will not be the same.' This InTimeTec 2.0 stands out as a truly transformative experience for me. It brought to light a recurring pattern: the gap between decision-making and taking action. We have often found ourselves overthinking, constantly questioning the right path, and worrying about favorable outcomes. This offsite, under Jeet's guidance, has immensely impacted me. I now understand what it means to be in action. This offsite helped me realize that indecision stems from the fear of failure and the unknown. It inspired me to accept uncertainty, trust myself, and take risks without worrying about the outcome. I learned to break down complex problems into smaller, more manageable steps, making them less daunting. The focus shifted from seeking perfection to taking action, learning from the process, and striving for excellence. Thank you, Jeet, for this creation." #CreatingAbundance
