It was a great discussion pointing out the bottlenecks and critical points on which we must focus our efforts to implement effective and accessible #precisionmedicine. Some key facts: > Data is at the heart of precision medicine and needs to be homogenized to unlock its full clinical potential. > Patient access to precision medicine approaches is a two-way street: we need to push for access to new approaches for all + access to patients by developers of precision medicine approaches to safely and efficiently implement their innovations in the clinic. > Precision medicine is not limited to treatment but also to preventive care, to inform about risk and anticipate adverse effects. > Genetic data is instrumental, but today, we are going even further in the molecular profiling of each patient: transcriptome, metabolome, proteome, microbiome... > The innovation continuum must include labs, hospitals, start-ups and biotech. Each needs the other at different stages, and it is together that they make progress. > Tomorrow, each patient will be considered uniquely, with a unique clinical presentation or disease (#raredisease) Thanks again Dr. Arielle Elkrief MD, FRCPC, Elli Papaemmanuil, Ruth Sapir-Pichhadze, Rhian Touyz, MBBCh, PhD, FRCP, FRSE, FCAHS, FMedSci Lloyd Mitchell Segal Centre de recherche du CHUM (CRCHUM) IR-CUSM | Institut de recherche du CUSM | #ircusm#ircusm EFFERVESCENCE MTL
