This Space Strategy seeks to exploit commercial innovation, scalable production and rapid technology refresh. Additionally: 1. Satellite and Telecom Convergence: Convergence between satellite and terrestrial telecom industries is rapidly accelerating, underscored by innovative collaborations and substantial financial investments aimed at bridging the connectivity divide. 2. LEO as a National Security Priority: The U.S. Space Development Agency's (SDA) $8B budget for the Proliferated Warfighter Space Architecture (PWSA) underscores the shift towards a layered network designed for enhanced communications and threat detection. Europe's companion commitment to the IRIS2 project is near €6B. 3. Integration of Generative AI and Edge Computing: This enables satellites to perform complex data analysis on-the-fly, significantly reducing the latency - a crucial leap forward for applications requiring immediate insights, such as environmental monitoring, disaster response and strategic defense. 4. Spectrum Challenges: Fragmentation surrounding the use of IMT (mobile) or non-terrestrial network (NTN) frequencies is increasingly contentious - at least until standards-based NTN devices gain traction in the market and terrestrial chipsets focus more on satellite communications. In another example of how hybrid multi vendor systems can work today, Hughes Network Systems announced Feb. 21 it will supply modems and other ground-based technology to SES Space & Defense for a military experiment aimed at establishing a multi-vendor mobile communications network. SES is planning a demonstration under the U.S. Air Force’s DEUCSI (Defense Experimentation Using Commercial Space Internet) program, SES and Hughes will attempt to establish a hybrid network supported by the SES-15 and SES-17 geostationary satellites, SES’ O3b medium orbit satellites, and SpaceX’s Starlink low Earth orbit satellites. Supercomputers, #ArtificialIntelligence, and #cloud aboard a constellation of cyber-secure satellites orbiting the Earth. This is the objective of the "Military Space Cloud Architecture" (MILSCA) study project assigned to #Leonardo by the Italian Ministry of Defense (through the contractual agency Teledife), as part of the National Military Research Plan (PNRM). For the first time in Europe the project intends to define a space architecture capable of providing government and national Armed Forces with high-performance computing and storage capacity directly in #Space.   The system, designed with integrated #cybersecurity models, will guarantee greater speed and flexibility in the processing and sharing information. The Space Cloud, which will be tested by creating a #digitaltwin of the architecture, will be able to store over 100 Terabytes of data generated on Earth and in space on board each constellation satellite. It can perform processing with a power exceeding 250 TFLOPS (250 thousand billion operations per second) at single precision, adopting advanced algorithms which use artificial intelligence, machine learning techniques, and extensive data analysis. They can also communicate and exchange data autonomously with other satellites.   "In a multi-domain scenario, management, security, and rapid exchange of an ever-increasing amount of data, much of which is tactical, become strategic elements for the country's defense.
