When fear shows up, do you freeze, run, or face it? Fear and anxiety sneak into our lives when we least expect it in our health, our leadership, and in — managing our teams. Anxiety stems from the unknown, and fear hits when we face familiar challenges. Both are natural, but we can't allow them to control us. Living in constant fear drains not just our mental health, but also our leadership. It clouds our judgment, paralyzes decision-making, and steals our energy. Here's what really matters: We don't need to be fearless to be strong. True leadership, whether in life or work, is about managing fear, not avoiding it. Following has helped me well: Take a deep breath when fear strikes. Acknowledge it-own it. Focus on the facts, not the imagined fears. Reframe challenges as opportunities for growth and resilience. Leadership isn't the absence of fear; it's knowing how to walk through it with grace and strength. Every time we face our fears, we grow stronger-not just as leaders, but as human beings. I've been mulling over what we really mean by success and failure… We often talk about them like they're clear cut endpoints - like final destinations. But the more I think about it, the more I see that it’s not so black and white. Success isn’t just those blockbuster moments when everything goes right; it includes all the little wins along the way too. And failures? Well, they’re not disasters but more like tough teachers giving us hardearned lessons. So, why wait for some big bang moment to feel proud? Why not celebrate the small stuff and learn from the slips and falls as we go? It’s all woven into the journey, not just points on a map. Here's my take: every step forward, every stumble - it all contributes to a richer story. That’s the real fabric of growth, isn't it? What do you all think? Am I on to something here? #Leadership #GrowthMindset #Success — Hi, I’m Gary 👋 A Leadership Mental Health Advocate and Inspirational Speaker. Why should business leaders be forgotten when it comes to mental health and wellbeing? 72% of leaders experience mental health challenges, yet only 10% of those seek help. I’m on a mission to break the stigma for business leaders and that’s done through conversations, sharing our challenges and creating support systems for us all. If you fancy a chat, let me know!

You are focused on nailing your C-suite executive role, but you think that means pleasing everyone around you... We people pleasers: - Deny our own feelings, thoughts or needs to appease others - Behave how other people expect us to - Seek external validation from others - Lack a strong sense of self - Have low self-efficacy - Attempt to fit in with those around us so we can appear inconsistent - Struggle to set #boundaries with others What this means is: - We are not always our #authentic self - We have an increased risk of #fatigue and #burnout because we are too focused on meeting everyone else's expectations of us - We struggle to prioritise our #wellbeing - We resent those who can set clear boundaries with others and say 'no' - We are consistently abandoning ourselves. Fawning is the #psychological term for people pleasing and is 1 of the 4 stress responses of fight / flight / freeze / fawn. I #coach executives who are lost in this #people pleasing cycle, who ignore their intuition, who fear disappointing others and think that quitting their #executive role is the answer to resolving the overwhelm they feel. It is not. I have done this deep work on myself and I can tell you there is a way out - it takes you to a liberating place! My #executivecoaching approach is based on the latest #psychology research and helps #leaders see their cognitive, emotional & behavioural patterns more deeply to then enact #purposeful change. #emotionalburnout The constant internal conflict created by imposter syndrome leads to emotional burnout, draining leaders of their motivation and creativity. Over time, this burnout makes it harder to maintain enthusiasm for their role, leaving them feeling exhausted and disconnected. Emotional burnout reduces a leader’s ability to stay resilient and engage their teams effectively. Mindful Action: Take 15 minutes today to reflect on what brings you energy and joy, and prioritize it in your week.
