🤷♀️ Cliche but true: Teamwork makes the dream work. I love my team at work. They are rockstars - every single one of them working hard and holding each other accountable as we strive for new heights. We recently experienced a few ups and downs within the company and team structures, and are now celebrating a new Senior Graphic Designer and summer intern who joined our special band of marketing "madness". And guess what? The team dynamic is stronger than ever. And we're on track to deliver the most innovative and robust marketing solutions the company has seen in any 12-month period, with the exception of our marketing team launch in 2016. That’s no coincidence or happy mistake. It’s all by design. If you’re involved in recruiting for your teams (and listen up, fellow senior leaders - if you’re not, you should be!), you know that creating high-performing teams is tough. Here are some thoughts and tips for recruiting top-tier talent. Whether you’re in marketing like me or leading any other function, these principles hold true. 1. Passion Over Existing Skills Look for that spark of passion in your candidates. Skills can be taught, but genuine enthusiasm is innate. Someone truly passionate will go above and beyond to excel in their role. 2. Potential Matters Don’t just focus on what candidates have done. Consider what they could achieve with the right support and opportunities. Raw talent and ambition are the seeds of future success. 3. Personality Fit Building a cohesive team means finding people whose personalities complement each other and align with your company’s values. Look for candidates who have the right skills and share your team’s vibe. Last thing: Make sure you have a safe and supportive environment for your team members—both new and existing—to collaborate, learn, and grow together.
