One of the significant advantages of renewable energy is the option to reduce power purchase prices, providing communities with rates traditionally only available to regional utilities. For our Alliance project, we successfully maintained the originally agreed-upon energy costs in 2021 with Municipal Energy Agency of Nebraska (MEAN) and the city of Alliance. This achievement translates into projected savings of $3.2 million for the city of Alliance over the lifespan of the power purchase agreement, compared to current solar power market rates.

According to the latest U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) jobs report, the advanced energy industry employs over 82,500 in Arizona. In a recent economic impact study from The Western Way, clean energy experts weigh in on the solar industry’s job growth in Arizona, identifying that solar is the most prevalent renewable energy sub-sector across the state, with over 8,300 individuals currently working in solar and storage sub-sectors, including manufacturing, installation, repair, and operations. With interest rates at an all time high, there's been a noticeable slowdown of US residential solar installations. However, investments in large-scale commercial renewable energy projects continue to grow. Many of these large-scale renewable energy projects in the United States depend on government research and funding. Contrary to common belief, a high amount of Renewable Energy Sources (RES) is not necessarily desirable! - When the presence of RES exceeds a specific value, which this value depends on system parameters and types of RES, it causes problems in the system. - By increasing the RES penetration level, the average price of the electricity market decreases mildly while price volatility increases significantly. -The incentive for forward contracts is decreased when the RES share increases. We are improving the integrity of the Australian rooftop solar industry by nominating one organisation to publish solar panel and inverter product lists. Applications for this new solar panel and inverter product listing body closed last year and we are currently in the final stages of assessing applications. This is a rigorous evaluation process to ensure we meet the needs of industry. We expect to announce the new product listing body between June and August 2024. This nomination is part of the Phase 2 reforms work implementing the recommendations of the 2020 Integrity Review of the Rooftop Solar PV Sector. The reforms aim to manage quality, safety and compliance risks more effectively in the rapidly growing small-scale renewable energy sector and increase consumer confidence. Until the final nomination is made, the Clean Energy Council will continue to publish approved solar panel and inverter product lists.
