Just spent a long weekend in the UK. Here's a surprising thing travel has taught us. In the past 12 months, my kids have been in Spain (Catalunya), France, England, Ireland, the Netherlands, Belgium, and 9 US states. Travel's great for seeing new things... Different ways people live, eat, and interact. Different ways people dress, dance, and raise kids. Different languages, dialects, and accents. And the kids start to see that how we live is just one of an infinite number of ways to do it. Hopefully they build a little more tolerance for the differences too. But another remarkable thing about traveling is what it reveals about how you live yourself. Whenever I'm away, I get a new reference point to compare and contrast the life I live. And it helps me see a little clearer the habits, routines, and values we try to build and maintain in our own home. A T.S. Eliot quote always comes to mind: “We shall not cease from exploration And the end of all our exploring Will be to arrive where we started And know the place for the first time.” If you never leave home, home is the only place you know. But the only way to really know home is to leave it—then come back with new eyes. What have you learned from traveling? #travel #perspective #change #workingparents

73% of people gain health benefits from travel A few days ago, I got this killer question from a friend "Billy, what's traveling abroad done for you?" I thought about it for a second... The normal things came to my mind... Wanna know what I was thinking? Here you go... I was thinking about the normal stuff • 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀 • 𝗙𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘂𝗽 𝗺𝘆 𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 • 𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 • 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝘆𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳 Then I realized another benefit... Traveling's does 1 major thing for me... Here it is... 𝘐𝘵 𝘪𝘨𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘦𝘴 𝘮𝘺 𝘣𝘦𝘨𝘪𝘯𝘯𝘦𝘳'𝘴 𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘥... You know the one that's... ...𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 ...𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 ...𝗮𝗯𝘀𝗼𝗿𝗯𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁 and most importantly 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙤𝙣𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩'𝙨 𝙚𝙢𝙥𝙖𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙩𝙞𝙘... Being the 'foreigner' isn't easy Oh no, it's not... But, Being the 'foreigner' is powerful Because growth comes from stepping outside your comfort zone! By learning to put myself in someone's shoes (because I lived it, not read about it) The quality of my life's improved tenfold! Proud to be part of that 73%! Am I the only one that's experienced this? Would love to know... #overseas #traveloverseas #mindset #corporatelife #expats #travelabroad #bKnotes #curious p.s. - My trip to Croatia (country no. 87!)

Do you feel the need to travel? I am thinking a lot about traveling at the moment - did I mention my 3-month trip to Asia is fast approaching ✈️ But why do some people feel that they have to travel and others never really move away from their home town? Growing up we never had the money to travel, although I have fond memories of a 3-day trip to Scarborough and a week in a caravan in Cornwall! Both my brother and sister, have stayed quite rooted in the UK, with only a few trips outside the Country. I, on the other hand, have traveled since I was 18, lived in 4 Countries, and visited 36. That is still only 15% of the world, by the way, so plenty more to see 🤣 So, why do some of us feel that need to explore? Is it that we get restless? Bored? Or are we just more curious? It’s not that I don’t love where I live, I love traveling around Spain too so it doesn’t have to be the other side of the world. So, are you a homebird or do you get itchy feet? If anyone has any insights into the psychology behind this, I would love to understand more about it, so I can explain to my family and friends why I keep abandoning them! dawn@dwvirtualassistant.com www.dwvirtualassistant.com #Wanderlust #TravelBug #homebird #travelcuriosity #traveldebate #travelthoughts #virtualassistant #digitalnomad

*Why Do We Travel? Have you wondered :) After traveling to about 20 countries and 50 cities in last 20 years, there’s one thing I’ve surely experienced - “Traveling isn't just about seeing new places; it's a journey into our own selves.” And my top reason for travel is to enjoy this bonding time with family and create beautiful memories :) what’s yours? For sure, travel stretches us out of our comfort zone like nothing else does. Unfamiliar terrains challenge our biases, and invite us to embrace discomfort. On my current travel in France, where hardly anyone speaks English, understanding directions is really tough (all signs are in French too) and food is, what to say, really interesting! It’s in the moments of discomfort that I begin to notice my own judgments, preferences and preconceived notions creeping up and a huge opportunity to grow beyond them. Here’s what ‘Ive learnt from traveling: *Crossing Language Barriers: it’s not easy, though navigating a foreign tongue totally elevate our communication skills and patience. Currently we’re relying upon body language and gestures except a few French words we’ve learnt. I’ve already used “Merci Boku” hundreds of times in few days, haha! 😊 *Culinary Adventures: we as family love to try the local cuisines, and it’s amazing how unfamiliar tastes teach us about our preferences and adaptability. (Though we make sure to add salt, chilles and pepper to our food in places like this😃 *Cultural Insights: could be a cultural shock for the first time :) Though different culture, and customs challenge our views and expand our understanding of the world. Big time! Every interaction, and new experience, has something to teach me about myself and the world around me, if we’re open to learn. I’ve realized that reflective journeys expand our minds and open our hearts. And we discover a lot about who we truly are! Next time you feel the urge to explore, remember: it's not just about where you go, but who you become along the way. So what’s your top reason to travel? share with me! Ready to pack your bags in summer? May you have an amazing time learning & growing, while having fun! #Travel #PersonalGrowth #Culture #SelfDiscovery #ComfortZone #lifecoach

🌍 22 days, 3 countries, endless memories, and countless new friendships. From exploring Greece’s mainland gems like Porto Heli and Athens to finally living my dream in Gran Canaria, this trip was everything I imagined and more. Crete, stole my heart. (sorry Italy) Cyprus, with its beauty in Limassol, left me speechless, and don’t get me started on the food – five-course dinners and breakfast buffets that spoiled me beyond belief. But there was something even more special – the people I met along the way. Traveling isn’t just about seeing new places, it’s about connecting with new people, forming friendships that transcend borders, and sharing experiences that open your heart as much as your mind. Someone in Greece asked me why it took so long to visit, and honestly, as Americans, we often stick to what we know. Maybe we take one or two European trips in a lifetime, but travel is more than just checking off destinations. It’s about expanding your horizons, tasting new foods, soaking in new sights and smells, and finding connections in the most unexpected places. This trip marks my fourth and final career, and I’ve found my passion. Travel isn’t just what I do; it’s who I am. Whether you're planning a vacation, family reunion, or girls’ getaway, let me help you experience the world in a way that goes beyond the surface. 🌍✈️ #FOMOAlert #ExploreMore #TravelDeeper #NewHorizons #WorldTraveler #BucketListAdventures #LuxuryTravel #GranCanariaDreams #GreeceWanderlust #FriendshipAcrossBorders #LifeOfTravel #luxsytravel

Why should you “solo travel” at an early age? I was 19, when I did my first 10 day solo trip in Europe. Fortune, yet felt vulnerable then, I travelled about 6 cities across 3 different countries. There, I learnt that there are endless life lessons that are necessary for you to understand the reality. 1. You realise how big the world is, thus your perception opens up, giving you a bigger array to think. 2. You learn about cultures, which makes you realise that there are too many realities of the same world. 3. You become organised, because you have to ensure to be at the right place at the right time. 4. You learn to manage finances, specially if you try backpacking. #lifelessons #organisation #culture #travel

My first guest post on the website! Check it out below! 🌍 When I first started traveling, I never imagined it would become a full-time lifestyle. What began as a search for a new home abroad turned into a journey of self-discovery and deeper connections. Traveling taught me that it's not just about the destinations but about the power of connection—with ourselves and with others. It’s easy to use travel as an escape, but the true value lies in embracing the journey as a path to personal growth. Listen to your intuition, clarify your intentions, and let your travels lead you to new experiences and deeper self-awareness. ✈️ #Travel #PersonalGrowth #SelfDiscovery #DigitalNomad #Community

8moI completely agree with this and think it’s such an enriching experience, especially for kids! It’s so interesting to understand other cultures and it really does help you build more of a tolerance to different ways of doing things! I’d say it has taught me patience & empathy too - you learn to see things from another perspective and that your way isn’t always the right way. Enjoy the travels with your family! 🌍
