Just spent a long weekend in the UK. Here's a surprising thing travel has taught us. In the past 12 months, my kids have been in Spain (Catalunya), France, England, Ireland, the Netherlands, Belgium, and 9 US states. Travel's great for seeing new things... Different ways people live, eat, and interact. Different ways people dress, dance, and raise kids. Different languages, dialects, and accents. And the kids start to see that how we live is just one of an infinite number of ways to do it. Hopefully they build a little more tolerance for the differences too. But another remarkable thing about traveling is what it reveals about how you live yourself. Whenever I'm away, I get a new reference point to compare and contrast the life I live. And it helps me see a little clearer the habits, routines, and values we try to build and maintain in our own home. A T.S. Eliot quote always comes to mind: “We shall not cease from exploration And the end of all our exploring Will be to arrive where we started And know the place for the first time.” If you never leave home, home is the only place you know. But the only way to really know home is to leave it—then come back with new eyes. What have you learned from traveling? #travel #perspective #change #workingparents

I completely agree with this and think it’s such an enriching experience, especially for kids! It’s so interesting to understand other cultures and it really does help you build more of a tolerance to different ways of doing things!  I’d say it has taught me patience & empathy too - you learn to see things from another perspective and that your way isn’t always the right way. Enjoy the travels with your family! 🌍
