From #CAT Aspirant to a #B-School #Scholar The previous month was marked by #numerous #emails that had a significant impact on the #aspirations of many individuals. Several individuals were uncertain about how to proceed after receiving their #CAT2023 Score, while others proudly shared their #acceptance emails from various #B-Schools. Conversely, some were already gearing up to give their best shot at #CAT2024 (refusing to give up easily). Upon interacting with these individuals, I noticed that there were common elements in each success story: 1) #Diligence and #Resilience 2) #SelfBelief and #SelfCompetition 3) #MicroPlanning and #MacroPlanning 4) #SelfReflection and #Self-awareness I have delved into each of these aspects in detail in a 40-minute video. Do you speak Yachtie?   Here are some top terms in our “yachting- lingo” which is basic vocabulary every yachtie should know!   VHF (Very High Frequency) Radio: This is the primary communication tool for vessels at sea. VHF radios operate on frequencies between 156 and 174 MHz and are used for ship-to-ship, ship-to-shore, and harbor communication. Mayday: The internationally recognized distress call. When a yacht is in grave and imminent danger, it transmits "Mayday" three times on the VHF radio, followed by important information about its position, nature of distress, and number of people onboard. Pan-Pan: A radio urgency call. It indicates an urgent situation that does not pose an immediate threat to life but requires assistance, such as a mechanical breakdown. SOS: A universal distress signal, typically transmitted via Morse code. (Although not commonly used on modern yachts) it remains an internationally recognized call for help. Channel 16: The international distress, safety, and calling frequency on VHF radios. All yachts are required to monitor this channel while at sea. . ETA (Estimated Time of Arrival): The expected time a vessel will arrive at a certain destination. It's crucial information for coordinating vessel traffic and harbor operations. (I also use it on a personal basis with my husband daily LOL) Radar: A system used to detect the presence, direction, distance, and speed of ships and other obstacles by sending out radio waves and analyzing their reflections. AIS (Automatic Identification System): A tracking system used on ships to identify and locate vessels by electronically exchanging data with other nearby ships, shore stations, and satellites. (like when you use Marine traffic .com) MOB (Man Overboard): An emergency situation where a person has fallen off the boat into the water. Immediate action and communication are vital to ensure a swift and effective rescue operation. By familiarizing yourself with these basic radio terms, you'll be better equipped to navigate the yachting lifestyle and especially be well-equipped in case of emergencies (God-forbids) #knocksonwood Welcome onboard.
