Just finished the course “Adobe Analytics Essential Training”, a highly recommended course on Adobe Analytics for marketers, data analysts, and team leaders who need to make sense of digital data for business decisions! Eric Matisoff, an Adobe Evangelist, does a fantastic job teaching the essentials of digital analytics, including navigating Adobe’s Analysis Workspace for top-notch analysis and data visualization. The course taught me to dissect data through Metrics, Dimensions, and Segments, and showed me how to craft tables, graphs, and customer journey visuals that tell a story. I've also gotten the hang of setting up and running projects straight from the Analysis Workspace landing page. Plus, I've got a handle on visualizations, whipping up line, bar, and stacked bar charts with ease. Did you know that line graphs can be one of your most powerful tools in Adobe Analytics and Customer Journey Analytics? 📈 Sure, they might look simple, but line graphs are often underrated. When used effectively, they can reveal trends, patterns, and seasonality over time like no other visualization. They’re also the easiest tool to use when debugging an event—helping you quickly identify irregularities or changes in behavior and trace them back to their root cause. Here are a few ways to take your line graphs to the next level and unlock even more powerful insights: 1️⃣ Add Annotations for Context: Mark key events like campaign launches, product releases, or holidays directly on the graph to better correlate spikes or dips in performance. 2️⃣ Adjust Granularity: Toggle between daily, weekly, or monthly views to uncover both short-term trends and long-term seasonality. 3️⃣ Overlay for Comparison: Use line graphs to compare dimensions such as traffic sources or user segments. This makes it easy to spot which groups are driving performance or lagging behind. 4️⃣ Detect Anomalies in Real Time: Leverage anomaly detection features in Adobe Analytics to identify unexpected spikes or drops and respond quickly. 5️⃣ Debug Events Efficiently: When event tracking goes awry, line graphs make it simple to isolate when and where issues started, helping you resolve them faster. A couple of weeks ago Pritam Pandit, Aabha Latkar, and I appeared in the Adobe Analytics Challenge wherein we had to utilize the web analytics tool, Adobe Analytics to come up with a business dashboard for a company to answer the question- What are influential factors that make a user of the company's website convert? This was a fairly new tool to us and we were initially grappling in the air to learn how to use it. We just had a week to come up with a presentable dashboard and at the same time, we were juggling with the bucketload of assignments, quizzes, and readings(Grad school, yikes!). After a couple of coffee-laden late nights, we did get a hang of the tool and came up with a semi-decent dashboard. Even though we didn't make it to the next round, we did realize that it is fairly easy to learn a new data analytics tool quickly, as long as your foundations are strong. If you can whip up a story with just a couple of hundred thousand numbers on your hand, you are good to go!
