Eight nights of Hanukkah? That’s eight nights to gather with loved ones, share stories, and enjoy festive treats (and maybe perfect those latkes!). Hanukkah starts on Christmas Day in 2024 in rare occurrence. This year, the first night of the Jewish holiday of Hanukkah will fall on the same day as Christmas for the first time since 2005. Why do late this year you ask? The Jewish calendar is based on lunar cycles, and is not in sync with the Gregorian calendar which is sets Christmas on Dec. 25. #askchca #concierge #originalinfluencer #chicago #hospitality #hanukkah #hospitality #celebrate #holidayseason

On behalf of everyone at #MDFR, we wish those celebrating a safe and joyful #Hanukkah! May your festivities be filled with warmth, meaning and light. As you light the first candle tonight, remember to prioritize safety and reduce the risk of fires by following these important tips: ✨ Make sure your menorah is designed for lighting candles and not just for decorative use. ✨ Place your menorah on a sturdy surface away from table edges or counters, and keep away from flammable materials. ✨ Make sure your Hanukkah candles fit securely in your menorah. ✨ Never leave young children unattended near the menorah, and keep the menorah out of reach of young children and pets. ✨ Test your smoke detectors and replace batteries if necessary.

We celebrate the first night of Chanukah (or Hanukkah) tomorrow night. It falls on the same day as Christmas. According to The Jerusalem Post, this has happened four times over the last 100 years: in 2005, 1959, 1921, and 1910. For a quick synopsis of Hanukkah, please look at the graphic below. _________________________ Photo description: white background, black border. “Chanukah or Hanukkah” across the top. Everyone has a different spelling of the word. On the left is another graphic with the words that describe Hanukah: Menorah, Lights, Family, Miracle, Eight Nights, Dreidel, Soufganiyot (donut), Candle, and Latkes (potato pancakes). On the right is the synopsis. The link to the audio is in the comment.
