COUNTRY GARDEN When we come to designing a rural country garden- it’s important to keep to a sense of place - this ensures it looks like it has always been there. Here are the checklist of DO’S. . . 🌿Keep paving and materials natural- from the place, think warm bricks, natural stone, timber- mirror those used on the house. 🌿Use plants that are growing in the area, hedgerows, trees and verges will ground the scheme. Also choose deer & rabbit proof plants. 🌿In large gardens break up the space by gradually becoming more wild and natural as you merge into the surrounding landscape. 🌿Keep the finishing touches like furniture, pots and accessories also of ‘the place’ like stoneware, terracotta so they blend and are more rustic. And for the Don’t s, well it’s simple don’t do the opposite of the above! Using shiny white porcelain, geometric shiny or bright coloured planters, modern furniture; will all jar and not create a sense of calm. Hope the above helps- if you have any questions about your country garden, choosing materials, or struggling to know which plants to put where- drop us a message; we would love to help you. #contrygardens #gardendesign #gardeninspiration #hampshiregardens #surreygardens #berkshiregardens #designandbuild #outsideliving #homesandgardens

Consider other aspects of your landscaping With a somewhat more austere landscape, you have the opportunity to focus more on other areas of your landscaping, such as what is commonly called “hardscape”. These are the nonliving objects that add beauty to your overall design and transform our outside spaces to outdoor living areas. This can include items such as walkwats, fire its, buildt in barbeque or even outdoor kitchens. Take the time to inspect these and how they overall fit in with your design, or add them if you have not already. Finally, you can use the plants themselves as decorations. If you have any deciduous trees that have lost their leaves during the fall that you do not wish to replace, take advantage of the smooth space on their branches to hang ornaments or wreaths. In other words, dress up the lifeless looking trees to add color and texture to your landscape. Remember we are to help you with any of these ideas for your winterscape! #totalmaintenancepro #landscaping

Small Backyard Design Ideas Transforming a small backyard can seem like a daunting task, but with the right design ideas, it can become a cozy and inviting space. One way to create an illusion of a larger space is to incorporate vertical gardening. Hanging plants and trellises not only add a captivating visual element but also free up floor space. 🏡 Additionally, maximizing natural light by choosing lighter colors for furniture and decor can create a brighter atmosphere. Small water features and fire pits can add a touch of tranquility and warmth to the backyard. ⛲ 🔥 With some creativity and strategic planning, a small backyard can become a charming retreat. The things you get marked down for in exams tend to stick with you. For me it's 'pinch points' - a great, practical little feature of garden design that you should incorporate when you make a sharp point. #PinchPoints #GardenDesignTips #PracticalGardenDesign #LandscapeFeatures #OutdoorDesign #SharpAngles #GardenPlanning #DesignDetails #LandscapeArchitecture
