Dr. James Pennebaker and colleagues came up with a precise protocol for journaling in 1986, and it has been replicated in more than 200 studies since. Here’s the exercise: 1. Think of the most traumatic event in your life 2. Write for 15-30 minutes – with assurance no one else would read 3. Write the entire time without concern for grammar, spelling, etc. Two tips: 👉 allow yourself a little time to decompress and regroup after, this might be difficult to perform because it taps into negative experiences. 👉 I recommend identifying a support person you can speak with about whatever feelings might arise. #trauma #traumahealing #journaling #journalinginspiration #therapy #therapyworks #jamespennebaker
