A protein that was commonly present both in several animal models and in humans was identified, screening the proteins, which were followed by correlating data from animal subjects with the human cohort employed in the study. These correlations would allow us to determine whether or not the findings are translatable into human application. Analysing 150 genomes from 4 holometabolous insects orders, our new paper argues that the GC landscape of Lepidoptera, Diptera and Coleoptera genomes is influenced by GC-biased gene conversion, strongest in Lepidoptera. We also find some outlier taxa affected drastically by counteracting processes, such as two species of bee-flies displaying some of the most unique GC-poor genomes among known insects. 🔬🧬 Genomic investigation of Lactococcus: diffusion also in human and animals This study examined the genomes of L. petauri, L. formosensis and L. garvieae from various sources, comparing their genetic diversity and virulence gene content. The results revealed that the 77 isolates previously identified as L. garvieae were instead L. formosensis or L. petauri. The prevalence of the three species varied between sampling sources: L. petauri was predominant in human and rainbow trout infections, while L. formosensis was more common in bovine isolates. These results show that L. petauri, L. formosensis and L. garvieae have different host specificity, thus it is important to monitor their distribution, not limited to the fish sector. We had the privilege of interviewing the experienced and knowledgeable Silke Arndt, Ph.D. from inqaba biotec. She speaks about "Leading with Genomic Technology in Africa." Silke, talks about how African populations exhibit significantly greater genetic diversity. This diversity offers a major advantage in research: a better understanding of African genetic variation allows for more precise studies. By identifying these variations, researchers can narrow down the regions they are investigating, making it easier to observe and analyze specific differences.
