The world is not on track to meet the Paris climate goals due to inaction by businesses. Our survey of 1,400 companies across 51 countries shows that most are ticking the boxes on climate disclosure, but only around half are providing enough detail on the risks they face; and very few are putting enough money behind their action plans. EY, The urgency of climate action cannot be overstated, yet businesses are falling short. Here’s what stands out: - Many companies are checking the climate disclosure box, but it’s just the bare minimum. - Only half of them are clearly showing the risks they face, leaving crucial gaps in transparency. - Financial commitment to climate action remains shockingly low for most businesses. - Without real investment and detailed planning, meeting global climate goals is just a pipe dream. - Climate action isn’t a checkbox; it’s a responsibility that requires deep commitment and real resources. - Businesses must go beyond reporting—they must act, and they must act now. - It’s not enough to say the right things; they need to invest in a future that’s sustainable. - As individuals, we need to hold companies accountable for the future of our planet. - If businesses want to lead, they must take bold steps and show us their real intentions. - Together, we can ensure the next generation doesn’t inherit a world left behind.

Climate crisis is a ticking time bomb, and businesses are the key to defusing it. Yet, it reveals a disturbing truth: most companies are merely paying lip service to sustainability. While they may boast about net-zero pledges and ESG reports, their actions often fall short. It's time for corporate giants to step up, take bold climate action, and invest in innovative solutions. Future of our planet depends on their commitment to a sustainable tomorrow. Let's drive real change, together.

Climate change may be a thing … The goals of governments, pontificators and scientists with their theories, assumptions and proficies are disconnected with Business reality. We need efforts to develop KPI’s {key performance indicators} connecting practical cost control / profitability targets to VISABLE/measurable actions and ‘small step’ impacts. To be taken seriously, practicality of day-to-day quality of life and financial well-being must be balanced with practical and affordable action that can be seen as worthwhile, meaningful to ‘the average guy’. Ask yourself what a short term, practical target may be, and do that …

This is unsurprising. You cannot decouple energy and material throughput from growth and all business aims for growth / profits. It's the need for growth - population / market, energy and technology - that's the predicament where in. #limitstogrowth #ecologicalovershoot https://www.interest.co.nz/business/122416/jack-santa-barbara-argues-we-need-highlight-magnitude-ecological-challenges-we-face

The message of António Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations (UN) on Thursday, Nov 14, 2024: - “My message to young climate activists at the UN COP29 Climate Conference. You have every right to be angry. I am angry too. I am angry because we are on the verge of the climate abyss, and I don’t see enough urgency or political will to address the emergency. It is high time to reverse this trend.” As a stellar Servant and Transformational leader, I am a graduate of UNDP and UNITAR. It's my distinct honor to join the world's largest team of leaders and experts at the 2024 UN COP29, taking place in Baku, Azerbaijan. My participation includes OECD events from Nov 4-22, and UNFCCC at COP 29 from Nov 11-22. I consider this opportunity as a sign of respect from the international community to what I am doing in the areas of green energy, climate change, circular, green and blue economies. My powerful vision for SDG integration, and a crucial one for effective climate action! Equitably sharing both the benefits and responsibilities of addressing climate change is at the heart of achieving a bright future in a just, sustainable and prosperous world. I take pride in making a positive difference and a lasting impact.
