We want to know what makes our customers tick, and what they need. That's why I'm really looking forward to the @electronicaFair, which is happening from November 12th to 15th. Here we will have the opportunity to showcase the solutions we provide, liaise with our B2B partners and keep on top of the latest technology trends. But we're not only at the electronica: whether it's the E-Commerce Berlin Expo, didacta, All About Automation or the Maintenance fair - Conrad teams are often at summits, networking events and trade fairs all over Europe. They always bring back valuable information and success stories. Talking to customers shows us that switching to a platform-based B2B business model was the right thing to do. Seven years ago, we started out at the bottom of the learning curve. Today, we’ve gathered a vast amount of invaluable knowledge. We know that interconnected procurement processes are key when it comes to both the implementation of and staying competitive within Germany’s Industrie 4.0 framework. And we are happy to hear that the services we provide to business customers do make a difference. We know where we want to go: we want to become the leading sourcing platform for technical supplies in Europe. That is why I’m absolutely delighted that we as a company are represented at trade shows and industry events across our continent, namely in countries where we operate one of our marketplaces. Having said this, we also make a point of attending regional events. We use them as additional touchpoints that result in an even closer interaction with customers. This is why we chose to invest in these, to back up our regional outside sales teams. Local. Regional. National. Global. Attending trade shows constitutes an important part of our success. And it's also a great occasion to catch up with a lot of acquaintances from home and abroad. 60 years of electronica — Congratulations to the world's leading trade fair for the electronics industry!   electronicaFair is regarded as an international industry meeting place and reliably represents the entire world of electronics. As electronics play an integral role in almost every area of life today, there are hardly any more exciting trade fairs than electronica! Every two years, it is a key driver for the rapidly growing interconnectedness of communication, knowledge, machines, and infrastructure. 📈   It fills me with pride to be Chairman of the electronica Advisory Board and to help shape the innovative and cross-sector solutions of tomorrow in this way. I am all the more pleased that all 18 exhibition halls will be filled with over 3,000 exhibitors from all over the world for the first time at this year's fair from November 12 to 15 in Munich. 🤯   In terms of content, the focus will be on the future vision of the #AllElectricSociety. In general, the topic of #sustainability will run like a red thread through the entire exhibition area and the supporting program. In view of the current geopolitical situation and the slower global economic environment, we had decided to postpone the IMEC EXPO 2024 to a later date in 2025. Recent published GDP reports by some countries is also concerning. Many potential exhibitors had feedback their sales turnover and margins had yet to recover from the Covid pandemic and post period. Many are still facing challenging times. The many inquiries from recent exhibitions had not materialize into actual sales.

Last week I had been at electronicaFair and co-located Semicon Europa, where I visited several of our customers and partners, and especially our teams of Critical Manufacturing and ASMPT SEMI Solutions. ·      The trade fair was fully booked, and the number of visitors was immense. The aisles have been extremely busy and the exhibitors presented themselves with great commitment. ·      It is true, in many areas, the economy is not performing as we all would like it, and positive signals and support from politicians are urgently needed, but even if there are downturns, none of the exhibitors has buried their head in the sand, but impressively presented the industry´s innovative strength and demonstrated that digital technologies are the key to achieving a carbon neutral future, - and I particularly liked this. ·      In addition to sustainability, key topics such as artificial intelligence, the future of mobility, and the development of young talent sparked lively discussions at the exhibition ·      A spirit of optimism among exhibitors - and that also applied to ASMPT. ·      Not only at Electronica did we show innovative solutions: the coming year will be exciting. Our R&D teams in all segments are working on innovations that will bring clear added value to our customers worldwide. I am looking forward to exciting trade fairs in the new year. As the world's leading trade fair for production technology, EMO is the perfect platform for suppliers of metalworking solutions that cater to these customers. From September 22 to 26, 2025, the "Showcase of Innovations" will not only look back on 50 years of success. Lessons to be learned from Electronica 2024 trade show in Munich (Germany) Although Europe’s biggest electronics trade show was a huge success (all halls sold out, record number of visitors, etc), at least in the 3 halls for printed circuit boards (pcb) I also talked with some annoyed visitors and frustrated exhibitors. Here’s my takeaway: For European visitors:  • The biggest number ever of Chinese exhibitors will continue to grow, having already outnumbered European and American exhibitors by a huge margin (Halls A1 and B1 were about 50:50, whereas Hall C6 was entirely Chinese. PRODUCTRONICA next year will probably see even more • The general Chinese ways of promoting their pcbs and components are so different from the European way. Usually the lowest price comes first • Being of a collective nation, Chinese companies are used to exhibit next to their competitors without a distinctive differentiation. Therefore they like to exhibit under the same banner, and let the sheer number of (potential) customers bring business about For Chinese exhibitors: • Learn European business culture, so that your sales staff doesn’t go about and force business cards and company brochures onto visitors, or ask “Do you want to buy cheap pcbs?” • Most visitors to a booth are potential customers; so do not abandon a conversation when an existing customer, and even more so a Chinese customer, shows up • Do not sit there and play with your mobile phone when there is no visitor at your booth, because to any potential visitor you show disinterest • Europe is not China, therefore your company has to differentiate itself from your competitors • Booth staff should not have business cards titles of “sales manager” if in fact they are only sales staff; this is easily found out because they can only do basic small talk.
