🌍Port Esbjerg Supports Dominion Energy’s Coastal Virgina Offshore Wind project We have contributed to Dominion Energy’s Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind (CVOW), which is set to deliver clean energy to up to 660,000 homes in Virginia while reducing CO2 emissions by up to five million tons annually. Port Esbjerg is the only port in the world equipped with the necessary infrastructure and capacity, including specialised heavy-lift cranes, to facilitate the production of foundations on this scale. 🏗️ A Milestone project The first of three massive jacket foundations, weighing approx. 2.445,6 tons and standing 60 meters tall, has been safely transferred to transportation vessels, and departed Port Esbjerg and are now on their way across the Atlantic. The jackets are designed to withstand harsh offshore conditions, including strong Atlantic currents and winds, and are critical to the stability of the offshore substations. The large-scale of the jacket foundations exemplifies how Port Esbjerg enables large-scale energy transition projects through operations and collaboration. ⚓ Global Partnerships The successful shipment reflects a close collaboration between key partners within the offshore wind industry. From Dominion Energy driving the CVOW project, overseeing its planning, construction, and eventual operation, to CS WIND Offshore, producing the steel jacket structures at Port Esbjerg to Semco Maritime, providing technical expertise by designing and installing electrical systems, emergency equipment, and inter-array cabling for the offshore substations, as well as ISC Consulting Engineers, who have played an important part in producing full detailed design off the three jacket fundations and topsides for the offshore substations. In the middle of it all stands Port Esbjerg, Europe’s leading offshore wind hub, which served as the production and logistics center, providing infrastructure to enable the assembly, handling, and shipment of the massive jacket foundations. This milestone highlights the importance of international collaboration, innovation, and infrastructure in accelerating the global energy transition. At Port Esbjerg, our role in projects like CVOW underscores the port’s capacity to support the growing demands of the offshore wind industry and facilitate the delivery of sustainable energy solutions on a global scale.
Beautiful video of an important project coming to a successful end 🤩
I am happy to put a little input into this project as Marine Warranty Surveyor representing Global Maritime
Great to see you leading the way in supporting offshore wind projects like CVOW! 👌This milestone highlights the vital role of strong infrastructure and global partnerships in advancing clean energy.
Nice job Werner Andersen 🥳
Excellent work.👌
Congrats!
